Human beings somehow beat Tower of Drauga.

Clearly we are capable of beating anything possible to beat.

Those were brave men. Braver men than any who had ever come before.

Also insane.

Very impressive...now try the aptly named Nightmare of Druaga, the only game I have ever played which punishes you for playing it.

So guys, there was a Legend of Zelda Manga made in 1989. The monster designs were...different. For example, here is what I assume is Digdogger.

Woah there! This is him making his entrance by the way. One moment nothing, the next GIANT GANNON HEAD IS BEHIND YOU.

Well how about minor monsters then? I mean, a Zol is hardly threatening right?



Its tongue latches onto things and seems to drain them into Zombies. Perhaps it feeds on moisture? (/injoke)

I might post some more of the things if there is interest, but for now there's really one notable creature that should be mentioned, the Gleeok.



As a rather...creative measure on how its heads fly off during the battle, it appears that the heads are separate creatures, who have one claw that latches onto a claw on the neck stump of the main body.

This is the only other good shots of the Zol. While the monster designs are impressive (though I still prefer the somewhat doofy look of the official manual art) the artist here usually cheaps out by making them difficult to discern blurs.

You're right, no Like Like or Pols Voice. Although there are some Levers.

That manga is great! I'm actually a big fan of this style of comic art, even if the designs are a fair bit different from the original art.

I recall Nintendo Power released a manga-style comic during the 90s. My sister actually had the trade paperback of it.

HOW DID I NOT KNOW WE HAD THIS THREAD?!

I guess I'll start with Bongo-Bongo, a giant headless abomination with severed hands that endlessly beats a drum at the bottom of a haunted temple.

Like-Likes are also very cool.

Also, one of my favourite boss battles in the series is with The Imprisoned, a giant eldritch abomination in the sealed grounds who turns out to be the final boss!

And how could I talk about Skyward Sword without mentioning Bilocyte, Optical Parasite?

Here's the huge beast whose armor was crafted into Majora's Mask... in the manga, of course.



I don't fully understand that part of the manga. Is Majora the name of that big monster? Or is Majora the dude who actually crafted the mask itself?

That part always confused me as well. I always thought of the guy who carved it being some incarnation of link or something like that and the creature being majora.

I love the Imprisioned because it's essentially the Zelda universe's equivalent to Satan and yet it spends most of the game as this big doofy-looking muppet thing. Not that the doofy-looking Muppet thing design is bad, I just thought it was kinda funny that he took THAT form.
