I agree with that completely. I make every effort to recognize that detail.

But, hm, does it make it right to hate an entire gender, even if it is a lashing out at misogyny?

I mean, I am pretty sure you are a white male (I think I saw a picture on your blog), and while it is important to recognize that, historically and currently, white males have had it much better, it doesn't feel good to be blamed for a social structure of misogyny that we had nothing to do with. Especially when you want to get rid of it just as much.

I had an ancestor that was a real bastard (though, certainly a product of his environment, first being "sold" as a servant when he was too young to have a choice and then living in Puritan Massachusetts).

He was a scalp hunter, he made his living selling scalps for bounties (half for women and children). The Puritans believed they had a divine right to the territory and simply viewed the concept of people already being there as something that needed to be corrected. All totally righteous-_-

Regardless, I recognize it as horrific. But at the same time, can I be blamed for the sins of my ancestors? Or of being born a certain way? Some scream about this just as a way to justify their misogyny or bigotry (like people who claim "honky" is as bad as "nigger"-_-), which is just a bullshit. But I feel like, any time you point out that, hey, I rather not be judged for what I look like either, you get thrown into that camp.

I don't want to be judged:/ I don't think anyone should get a pass on it or that one group "has it coming", as some I've encountered seem to think.

If you surround yourself with super-shitty animu weeabo art and nothing else, of course it's going to start to seem "normal". You'll be trapped in a life of creative sterility and an art form that never inspires you to improve your abilities, but you won't find anything wrong with that.

It's unfortunately true that everyone judges based on appearances; however, our better nature makes us fight against that impulse, provided a society is just and does not endorse and/or validate prejudice.

I also believe that such distinctions ultimately won't matter, as globalization and the necessity for equality will make such assumptions obsolete. Judging by broad categories makes sense in an environment where conflict and uncertainty are realities, but far less sense when one is in an environment of professionals with complex skill sets who exist in a world of international commerce.

We wont get much done until we recognize ourselves as one united species.
