The idea of having different horror scenarios based on artifacts found is a lot like the premise of the Avalon Hill board game "Betrayal at House on the Hill." In that game, the players are a group of average people who explore a randomly generated haunted mansion. Eventually a player will find an 'omen' which will trigger a specific 'haunt', such as a zombie attack similar to the one in the movie. You can read more about it here:

It's actually a really fun game to play with friends.

I saw this movie last night. Fucking awesome movie if I do say so myself. I was surprised by the random unicorn. I have to wonder what scenario you have to trigger to get attacked by a unicorn.

Real mesoamerican gods are better... Why no Zotz >:C? But anyway, the monster designs were pretty cool, especially the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Merman, and... Wait, where were the dismemberment goblins? I never saw them, but they sound fun...

I thought the hand worked well because it reminded me of Meso-America, which I suppose is the point.

Also, my favorite reference was the really obvious Hellraiser one. Also also, they have Deadites written on the white-board in that one scene.

But surely a hand has specific symbolic meaning?

I fucking loved this movie. But one thing kinda bugged me.
SPOILERS

At the very end, they release the ancient gods, and a giant hand covered in runes burst forth from the cabin, and I've got to say that was a pretty big let down. Given the creativity of the film, I expected something much cooler. Tentacles would have been a bit overplayed, but ANYTHING would have been better then a boring hand! A giant fetus, a geyser of blood, or even a giant throbbing dick! I would've KILLED for a giant throbbing dick to be "an ancient evil god"! But alas, they give us a boing old hand. That aside, its probably my favorite horror movie (excluding the ones that I love because of how cheesy they are).

In other news, I am really enjoying this Let's Play.
How have I not heard of this game before?

Anything that was made for the Dreamcast was doomed to obscurity. I consistently forget it even existed. I know people who owned one and forgot it existed.

That was one of my favorite Let's Plays ever.

I do rather like some of the satire:

SPOILERS!

The ending features two stoned college students sitting by while the work of generations past is undone by their negligence, inaction which ultimately results in the destruction of the entire human race. It's pretty much the most clear allegorical criticism of this generation's supposed apathy that I have seen in a movie.

Granted, EVERY generation feels that way about the younger generation.

I just came home form seeing it and it is the best horror movie I have seen in a long while. One part In pitculaur left me with the biggest goofiest smile on my face. Also this movie has some quates i will be wearing out very soon.
