The main reason I hated that game was because of how impossible recruiting Pokemon was.
Other than that, I loved that game. Eight-year-old me would have OBSESSED over it. |

IIRC, Cubone's Bone attacks could not only hit the Legendary birds, but dealt super-effective damage on Moltres and Zapdos.
Randomly recruiting Pokemon is kind of a drag, especially Kecleon. His recruit rate was absurdly low, like 0.01%, and the only ones in the game where the shopkeeper who randomly appears in dungeons and his "security" that swarm you if you attack him. |

I had a rom of the GBA version a while back. My Pokemon self was Psyduck, which is awesome.
Though I foolishly chose Bulbasaur as my partner. It worked pretty well most of the time, but, uh, one of the bosses is Zapdos.
I also wasn't too fond of how you have basically no control over recruiting new Pokemon, it'll just happen if you're lucky. I didn't play that far, but it seemed like it could be pretty fun to me. |

| QUOTE (Monster-Man-08 @ Jul 13 2011, 10:29 PM) | I seem tp remember an obnoxious amount of flashbacks in these games, even flashbacks for things that happened just a few minutes ago. But starting as Cubone and eventually getting a house made of bones and a giant skull was kinda cool.
...Escort missions. Oh how I LOATHE those. "Bring Level 1 Weedle to Floor 52 of the Cave of Broken Glass" "Floor 1: Unseen Venomoth did some kinda crazy move that hit every square on the Floor!" "Weedle fainted" And Monster Houses, argh! |
How hard would it have been to code for the escorted POKeMON's level to reflect the players, or to just match a "level value" inherent to the dungeon in question? I think it was a deliberate "screw you" on the developer's part. |

I always wanted to play that Darkrai one
that sounded pretty wild. |

As much as I enjoyed Wigglytuff in those games, they could never keep my interest long enough for me to actually finish any of them. And I really enjoyed Wigglytuff.
When I went through my I-want-to-be-a-let's-player-for-some-reason phase, I joined a forum and successfully posted about two or three chapters of Explorers of Sky (I think?) LP, thinking that maybe if I had an incentive and something to do other than just play the game I could do it.
I didn't, because fuck leveling even harder when it's on an insanely slow emulator instead of an actual DS. |

Hah, I haven't finished any of the games because fuck leveling, that was always my least favourite part in the regular games, too.
I sort of liked the Mystery Dungeon series. I always thought it was a pretty cute idea and some of the characters were OK.
I loved the wonderfully gay Chatot. He was cool. |

Neat idea, but yeah, I lost interest pretty quickly. |
