SO you normally say that only the monsters created before the game was announced will be statted, but those last few were made like a week ago (I have no sense of time); did you guys just like fall prey to the temptation to do some of your new favorites?

Bigger creatures are more powerful, but smaller ones are a lot less expensive both to make and maintain.

The "knockoff" versions of the Destroyers are still the best monsters in the game for pure combat. Seriously, even a weaker version of a godlike being is still pretty damn godlike.

I love the holders and will take all holder questions forever. Even the ones you don't want answered.

Players can kill the holders but replacing them would have to be the goal of an entire game, if for no other reason than that building up support for such an act would be very hard. Holders have their position by their power and the respect they command- it could be done but would be very hard. Still, it would make for an awesome game.

I'm not sure if any of the current Holders have been bribed, but some of the past ones might have been, you'd have to ask Scythe.

You may face the Holders alone or with your party, but if you fight them with your party they get some other advantages (their arenas are custom-built for this purpose). Fighting them one on one is hard but they will refrain from using their arena's tools out of respect for anyone that ballsy.

Viviphages, if you could get one, would be made out of another Vampire that you would help achieve that stage of life. It would help you out of a sense of duty owed to such an ally...

Oovule is a badass. That's all I'll say (it has my favorite ability).

Astarath has mindfuck powers. Sometimes they hit its owner. C'est la vie.

Not sure about Abnortis. biggrin.gif

I'll answer the ones I know, Cales would know the others!

Do the holders have grudges against each other corresponding to the different schools' rivalries, or are they just a bunch of chill old madmen/women/unidentifiable organisms?

The latter. The different disciplines might all think they're cooler than the rest, but they still know they need one another.

can any garbage become any garbage beast?
For example, if I wanted a crocoboil, could I just get any old garbage, or would I need to specifically procure a sloboil?

Canonically, they evolve from the appropriate larvae, but I think in the game it was easier to just say any garbage monster can become any beast, or that you just have a small chance of getting a beast instead of a standard garbage monster. I'm not sure if that's changed or not over the course of development.

could one mess with just the size of their monsters? what effect would this have, if any?

It wouldn't be mad science if you couldn't make giant or tiny versions of virtually anything. Size adjustments come with the trade-offs in strength and agility that you would expect. A big monster is destructive, but also a big target.

I'm somewhat curious as to how certain monsters would function combatively. Specifically, Abnortis Oovule, and Astarath.

How would one work with a viviphage? it seems more like a blood-devouring force of nature than anything.

how worth it is it to get one of the lesser, trainable versions of the Destructors?

I ask this because I'd like to know how possible a giant, acid-spitting afterspawn would be.
perhaps with a small house on top of its head.

lastly, I'd just like to say that thrash polka sounds like a wonderful genre of music.

Do I have to face the holders alone or can I bring my party with me?
Hopeless Prince Posted on May 14 2013, 05:04 AM
Would it be possible for players to replace or kill the holders?

Is there anyone who successfully bribed a holder to throw a battle?

Will you be accepting any questions about holders from me in the future?
Mr. Cales Posted on May 14 2013, 02:22 AM
Probably, but violence is part and parcel of the whole city, so the winner probably has to fend off second-place with a battle.
M.A.Ndog Posted on May 13 2013, 12:26 AM
Are there any non violent competitions in mortasheen?
Such as a competition to see who can mutate their monster the most, functioning in a dog show like fashion?

I'm still slowly chugging away at it, probably will have it finished by the end of the weekend.

Also, for my short version on my views of the film, I liked it, thought it was a very interesting take on societal decay and how people deal with it with a great sense of disquieting realism, and the infamous bathtub scene is quite interesting in how it's the film's big "Gross-out" moment, but it's a relatively subtle; quiet kind of gross. I'm pretty sure Scythe'd need a shower after watching that part though.
