Title: Cryptids, Creatures, and Creeps: The RPG
Description: Another concept that will probably fail
Pyro-Gibberish - July 19, 2012 02:01 AM (GMT)
Board game pitch;
Each player assumes the role of a team of zoologists looking for undiscovered species (mostly cryptids) so that they can earn fame.
There are four main regions; the forest, the lake, the city, and the mountains, each with a unique assortment of cryptids inhabiting it. Example: Chupacabras live in the forest, mokele-mbembe lives in the lake, Rat Kings live in the city, and yetis live in the mountains. There are also 'extraterrestrial' cryptids (like the Flatwoods monster and mothman) which have a random chance of being found in any region.
Each turn consists of two moves; a collection move and an action move. In your action move, you set a trap in any region at the cost of funding points, or put up flyers. On your collection turn, you draw a card for each trap you set (corresponding with the region) and gain funding for each flyer you put up.
When you draw a card for your trap, it will either be empty or a cryptid. If it is a cryptid, you compare the cryptid's elusiveness rating (anywhere from one to five) to your trap's strength rating (also from one to five). If your trap's rating is higher, you gain funding (proportional to the creature's elusiveness rating) and put the cryptid in your database. If not, release the cryptid back into the deck.
On your collection turn, you can also buy bait for your traps to increase your trap's strength by one.
The game is over when all cryptids have been collected. The winner is the player with the most cryptids in their database.
tl;dr a cryptid-based mons game where the mons act more like trophies
On the off chance this concept amounts to something, would anybody want to help out?

do you ever do anything with all these game concepts you have floating around? or are you "more of an ideas guy"? just curious

I can make one of those awful cardboard board games that 2nd graders make, if you'd like.

I usually at least start thinking about mechanics and other stuff like that, or do sketches of the game world. Sometimes I actually make the basics of the game (like the main character) so that I'll have an easier time later, when I actually do work on the game extensively.
Right now, I'm working on the Mortasheen game, so I'm trying to focus on that, but when I finish I'll come back to my list of ideas and pick one I like to use.

You can capture the chupacabra using fox news and pain pills.
