Title: Tarot Demons

Pyro-Gibberish - June 7, 2012 02:42 AM (GMT)
I'm going to be doing a series of 22 monster drawings based on the 22 cards in the tarot deck. Each one will also have a short description/summary of the monster's lifestyle and/or abilities. Here's the first one:

It's based off of the Fool card, which is commonly depicted as a beggar holding a large stick with a small sack on the end (god that sounded sexual).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Fools are a dwindling species. Although they are completely blind, their other senses aren't highly effective as in bat or cave salamanders; their existence essentially consists of wandering around until they stumble across prey. The only way the Fools have managed to survive is through their strange control over the course of luck. They have been observed as extremely lucky, avoiding predators or somehow besting them and easily finding food and mates. The large staff they carry over their shoulder is also filled with a deep purple liquid that, when ingested, randomly effects the drinker's luck for 48-72 hours.

Next one, based off of the World card.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is only one known 'World' left in existence. It can take the form of anything it chooses, but often manifests as a woman bound by flesh to a ring of constantly-shifting viscera and body parts. World can manipulate reality and has access to multiple dimensions stemming from its interaction with the space-time continuum. Many adventurers have tried to communicate with it, but they always return completely mute and in a constant state of terror. What World does to make them act like this is unknown.

Based on the Death card.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deaths are comprised mostly of a liquid nearly identical to water, save for its unexpected thickness. Within this mass of liquid are groups of equine bones, thought to be responsible for the creatures life. They are known to settle down in dry lakebeds and wait for prey to drink from them, thinking they are water. They will then absorb said prey into their bodies. As prey is being digested, the liquid goes opaque. It is believed the equine skull (the 'brain' of the creature) devours the body after the liquid drowns them.

The Lovers
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Technically two seperate organisms conjoined at the pelvis, the Lovers are known for their unique parasitic interactions. The two sides of the Lover are essentially parasitic to each other, contantly stealing nutrients away from the other. Eventually, one side will win out and the other will die, slowly becoming part of a new organism called a Widow/Widower. The smaller half of the Lovers are known to be marginally more intelligent and aggressive, while the larger half is much stronger and calmer. The smaller side is often seen trying to bully its other half.

I now have a Deviantart page. It has a lot of drawings I've never posted to Bogleech, so check that out if you have time. :)

The Hermit.

As their name would imply, Hermits are very solitary and territorial creatures. They are physically weak but will release a crippling blast of psionic energy if threatened. Hermits seem to reproduce through division, as in amoeba and other single-celled organisms. Their are not known to verbally/audibly communicate, but can convey emotions such as fear and joy to nearby creatures from its mind to theirs.

Gah, I don't like the beaks in this one! Oh, well...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Towers can be found scattered all throughout the land. These fungoid abominations have a long 'tongue' protruding from a tooth-lined orifice at the top. This tongue has a grwoth on the end which produces several hundred volts of electricity. The four 'beaks' that run along the barrel are filled with maroon tendrils, which spread spores in order for more towers to grow.

Next one, based on the Chariot. Being an idiot, I miswrote the name as strength instead of the chariot.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to the formation and structure of their wheel-like bones, the Chariots are in constant pain that increases as they move, due to their skeletal formations twisting and tearing masses of skin connected to them. This eternal agony also makes Chariots violent and dangerous creatures, outwardly attacking any living thing near them with their claw-tipped tailes or a hypnotic ball which dangles before them. If somehow tamed, they can be used as mounts for sentient creatures.

Intreasting takes on the Tarot cards. Alot more bizarre then the ones the Stands fron Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure are based on.

These creatures, created when a human comes into contact with Devil, are called the Judgement. Little is known about them besides that they devour emotions through a small sucker at the top of their spinal cord and live in large flocks in dark, moist areas.

Many millennia ago, the moon was struck by an asteroid. A small chunk of the moon broke off and collided with its parent planet. The moon-piece carried two lunar-ticks, now often just called Moons. They still live today, and are very reminescent of common parasites such as ticks and fleas. They possess the unique ability to solidify absorbed blood into a thin thread-like substance which somehow intoxicates anything that becomes enstranged in it. The patterns down the Moons' heads and abdomens are different for each.
