Title: Godzilla: Replay

Cosbydaf - April 18, 2012 10:25 PM (GMT)
Been working on this for a couple weeks. Can't say for sure when actual chapters are going to be done, but here's a preview of some stuff I've made:

First!

But seriously, you're an awesome pixel artist.

I'd make more comments but the only Godzilla movies I've seen is the US remake and what I believe was Godzilla vs Mothra vs Battra or something, so I have no idea what most of these monsters are supposed to be.

xolta - April 19, 2012 12:00 AM (GMT)
Please dont say first. Also I am looking forward to this cosbydaf.

HOORAAAYYYY! You make the best sprites ever, honestly.

GODZILLA 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO

GODZILLA 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO

I'm sorry, but that reminds me of the time Jadusable was asked about the movie he was making that was unrelated to BEN Drowned shit, and he said the title was "BEN 2: Electric Boogaloo".

...but only because this topic is about a creepypasta and your post was about electric boogaloo.

Here's the prologue:

No gameplay scenes yet, this is just a short post that sets things up a little bit. Still working on the Chapter 1 sprites and backgrounds but it shouldn't be too much longer.

Veninax - April 20, 2012 01:26 AM (GMT)
IT BEGINS.

Good lord, I'm really looking forward to this.

Jesus lizard - April 20, 2012 02:04 AM (GMT)
Even if this doesn't go very far I'm going to enjoy seeing spritework from you, Cosby.
Excellent overhauls on Gorosaurus and Manda.

You DO know that "Electric Boogaloo" is a stock phrase used for sequels of any kind right? It's based on the 1984 movie "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo."

And stop obsessing over BeenDrowned everywhere.
Repeatedly citing one creepy pasta out of however many millions of them there are is as just as idiotic and annoying as repeatedly citing the one book in the library you have ever read.

xolta - April 20, 2012 03:02 PM (GMT)
So far Carl, the narrator and main chacter seems like an okay person and so far every thing seem like it will be good. Beyond that I have nothing to say.

I thought pretty much everyone agrees that ben drowned sucks ass.

I'm looking forward to this.

Out of curiousity and geekyness, will there be a level played as Mothra Larva? And a boss fight against DesGhidorah?

I'm not sure what to do with Mothra at the moment.

Death Ghidorah is a maybe, but his chances are pretty good. As far as quadruped Ghidorahs go, I definitely prefer that design to Keizer Ghidorah.

Thanks! Still working on chapter 1, it's about 1/3 done.

I'll go ahead and say that Chapter 1 isn't gonna be what I'd call "scary", the game starts out deceptively benign.

Part of the reason "creepypasta" isn't in the title for this one is because I think it gives the impression that the story is supposed to be constantly scary from beginning to end. Since this "show the entire game" method of story takes so long, I try to go for several different feelings throughout.

Arachnid knight - May 1, 2012 04:19 AM (GMT)
Well, that's good. The issue with long-running creepypastas, is that they tend to just sort of melt together after a while, and you become able to point out how generally uninteresting an oft-used detail becomes, for example "The character in the cartoon seemed to be portraying an emotion usually not exibited." or "The blood in the video game seemed far too realistic given the engine."

They try so hard to just make you always scared all the time you just sort of end up not caring.

Oh good, I thought I was seeing things. Nice to know there was actually something there, looking back.

ElementJester - May 1, 2012 03:46 PM (GMT)
I already love how this is turning out. The immediate difference between Zach's playthrough and this one reminds me of how we're finally going to get some insight to some the game's "rules", and just how this confounded thing works.

Something I noticed though: The game seems to tailor itself to whatever reason the player got the game for. Zachary bought the game because of the nostalgia, and he got a game that directly interacted with his memories and built worlds and enemies based around his memories of Godzilla. This new player got into the game because he wanted to see just how far gone the game could get. From what we're seeing so far, he's getting a game that's throwing everything it has at him from the get-go.

Grimlink - May 5, 2012 12:18 AM (GMT)
Lovin' it! Sprite work's a lot better, and I personally enjoy the style of writing.

Drewche7 - May 5, 2012 03:56 PM (GMT)
The prequel was probably the best creepypasta that I ever read in my whole entire life. In fact, it beats BEN DROWNED by many, many, many standards in which makes me cringe in joy. In fact, RED was more interesting of an antagonist than BEN and Happy Appy combined. I hope that Godzilla: Replay would be as good as it's prequel. In fact, I'm still surprised that no one has even put RED (nor the possible villain in this sequel, but he doesn't exist... yet.) Cosbydaf, you are an inspiration to all creepypasta readers and writers everywhere.

Cosbydaf - May 5, 2012 04:05 PM (GMT)
Thanks! Hopefully this story will be even better.

I'm sure it will. It'll make me go :pop:. For I'm (used to be) an avid creepypasta reader.

On the other hand, the people who joined the forum simply because of the original work are probably going to start acting up again.

You can stay, but don't go causing any trouble in the sewers, got it?

Don't listen to Outsider, we all hate him.

Grimlink - May 5, 2012 08:46 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't go so far as to say that the NES Godzilla Creepypasta is among the greatest creepypastas ever. Or at least not in the sense that it was scary or anything (Because I was truthfully surprised that anyone found it scary at all.).

BUT I will say that the pacing and suspense was great. The fact that this "cursed" game is now in someone else's hands just really turns the weirdness/creepy level up. I also, personally, like how Cosbydaf is specifically not trying to make this a full-on scary story, as he mentioned earlier, which really expands on how far this game's overall design can go.

Bottom line: Great stuff. Can't wait for the next update.

You don't seem to like it too much.

Ebe - May 5, 2012 09:00 PM (GMT)
As far as "Gave me nightmares" or whatever I've never read ANY creepypasta that I'd consider "scary." I think as the series went on I got acclimated towards Red, but the first time I saw him I remember feeling a sense of revulsion. It was a fantastic story, even if it was too formulaic for some people towards the end.

ScutigeraColeoptrata - May 7, 2012 03:42 AM (GMT)
I really liked the conclusion of the first story, as it ended in a very dramatic manner reminiscent of the Godzilla movies. It leaves me to wonder, though, if this story will end as well for our protagonist...

Now that this is a series, I am very curious about the possibility of learning more about this strange supernatural force and its connection to an NES game.

Your new spritework is also fantastic by the way, and up to the quality of modern cell phone games and the like.
