The ice dildo was a first-release bonus part and isn't available anymore.
xolta - October 13, 2011 12:04 AM (GMT)
This is a thing of beauty.
ScutigeraColeoptrata - October 13, 2011 02:49 AM (GMT)
It does look like a very cool line. I have some of the kaiju from the Ultra-Act line, which are similar in size and make to these figures (which makes sense, since they are both by Bandai). The quality is pretty good on those as well:
http://www.cooksux.com/2011/09/19/ua_golza/Of course their expense makes collecting them require some careful planning. I usually only buy about one or two a month.
So far my favourite of the S.H. Monstarts line is actually Space Godzilla:
http://www.gunjap.net/site/?p=20877They should make a Solomon figure.
Oh, and commercials!

I would LOVE to see a final form Destoroyah in this series. I know they have a Burning Godzilla in the pipeline so they might make one sooner than later.
ScutigeraColeoptrata - October 13, 2011 05:59 PM (GMT)
They seem to be developing characters from the Heisei series first, so Destroyah seems likely if the line does well.
I'm curious to see if the line will ever attempt a Biollante.

I'm amazed that they chose characters like Spacegodzilla and Moguera ( I'm very curious as to how articulated their Moguera is) so early in the line, so I think Biollante is a plausible option. They could definitely pull it off.
Oh, and can't wait to see a Ghidorah of some sort- surely they'll make one eventually!
i wonder if the Revoltech guys will get around to another Godzilla kaiju.
xolta - October 13, 2011 07:32 PM (GMT)
Well there goes my kidneys but it least its for a noble cuase.
ScutigeraColeoptrata - October 13, 2011 08:32 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I have to admit that the initial choices for the line are odd. I can understand Mecha Godzilla (even though the 90s Mecha Godzilla is my least favourite design), but why start with Godzilla vs Space Godzilla characters? Is Bandai just holding back fan favourites? If, as they say, the future of the line depends on good sales, why not start with more popular characters?
I read that the Kaiyodo Godzilla kaiju line has licensing problems, as Bandai apparently either won't give up their almost exclusive rights to make Godzilla figures, or they just charge a staggering fee for that right. So, Kaiyodo can only make obscure Toho kaiju Revoltechs...
...BUT there appears to be no such limit on Gamera figures, so this November a really cool Legion figure is coming out:

Shoggoth - October 13, 2011 08:53 PM (GMT)
I want these, all of them, badly. They better have a Biollante or Destroyah.
ScutigeraColeoptrata - October 13, 2011 09:34 PM (GMT)
Actually, now that I think about it, there are a few possible reasons Tamashii chose the characters they did. All of the current characters look like they share the same basic frame and infrastructure, so that likely cut down on development costs. Something like a Ghidorah figure would have required an completely new structure, which might have tipped the company over budget.
But given that pre-orders seem to be sold out now in many places, I think there is a good chance the line will do well.

Funnily enough, guess who's next?
ScutigeraColeoptrata - November 25, 2011 12:19 AM (GMT)
Well, according to the thread linked to below, King Ghidorah, Fire Rodan, Destoroyah (Aggregate Form), Little Godzilla and, strangest of all, Utsuno Ikusagami from Yamato Takeru (known in the US as Orochi, the Eight-Headed Dragon).
http://www.tohokingdom.com/forum/viewtopic...=6155&start=510They all look very nice. All these figures are making me want to try putting together a custom Hell-Beast figure. B)

..I meant Spacegodzilla is now available for preorder.
And I think his breath weapon is not exclusive to preorders, unlike Godzilla's ice dildo.
ScutigeraColeoptrata - November 27, 2011 05:49 AM (GMT)
That would be nice. It always struck me as silly to leave out Godzilla's breath weapon from the main release, considering it's a pretty standard accessory.

Is it me, or is Ghidrah showing off the world's biggest pair of man-boobs in that last picture?
dodoman1 - May 26, 2012 08:33 PM (GMT)
He would need large pectoral muscles in order to fly.
ScutigeraColeoptrata - May 26, 2012 08:59 PM (GMT)
I especially like how the sculptor captured the folds of the wings.

The details are just insane on all of these, it's like they took the actual suits and shrunk them down.
If they make a final form Destoroyah and/or Biollante it would probably make my head explode.

This is a bit old at this point, but I really like this picture.

"Ugh, really? Really? Nobody told me this asshole would be here. Great."

I have collected all of these so far, and I can say they look just as nice in person. Space Godzilla looks especially impressive.

You should take some photos!

Got Godzilla after Christmas last year. I love him, even though some of his joints feel kind of stiff and I'm worried that they might break, and I don't want to use spend $66 again
The only figure I really want after him is Ghidorah, who I asked a local comic book manager to order for me when he comes out, even though I fear he will rape my wallet. Might pick up DESTROYAH!, Moguera, and Rodan (even though I'm still thinking if I should get the Revoltech version of him and Mothra instead, even though I heard they're too small next to MA Godzilla
I really hope they do non Toei Kaiju like Gamera and King Kong, both 1933 and 2005 versions with a replica of the top of the Empire State Building with some jets and Ann to play with
ScutigeraColeoptrata - May 31, 2012 04:47 AM (GMT)
I have read that Space Godzilla has more articulation than Godzilla, though I haven't really tested that myself. I usually just file the figures away into special compartments, which effectively gives me a creepy side room full of compartmentalized weird figures I've collected since I was a child. I still have most of them after I moved out, and when the lights are off it actually casts some disturbing and amazing shadows.
...Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if the Monsterarts line does eventually include non-toho figures, since Tamashii already produces a wide range of figures owned by different companies.
Beelzebuzzer9 - May 31, 2012 04:57 AM (GMT)
Eh, not really interested in MechaGodzilla and Space Godzilla, seeing that they're essentially almost the same body structure as real Godzilla, and I don't want to spend about $70 on them
I read on 4chan's /toy/ that there was recently a poll on Facebook for future Monsterarts figures, including smaller monsters like the Universal Monsters and Gizmo from Gremlins, and for some stupid reason, Kong was in third behind 1998 Zilla and Charizard

Rainbows are made of rubber.
This is a science fact.
(Disclaimer: Not actually a science fact.)
ScutigeraColeoptrata - August 12, 2012 03:37 AM (GMT)
It is a really cool figure, and certainly the best detailed and most articulate Godzilla figure of its size (well, the most articulate Godzilla figure ever really.)
Of all the ones currently released, I have to say that SpaceGodzilla is my personal favourite, though that may well change when Ghidorah is released next month.
Here are some more pictures from the Tamashii Feature Vol. 4 event currently going on. It looks as though Burning Godzilla and Godzilla Junior are next (with Destroyah likely not far behind!)
http://www.tokunation.com/showthread.php?t=10001I still can't believe we're seeing a new Gridman figure in the year 2012; that's pretty awesome. B)
Oh, and before I forget again, here are some comparison photos that you asked for earlier Cosby. These are an assortment of Monsterarts, Ultra Acts, and Kaiyodo figures;

They vary in size quite a bit, but within the Monsterarts line that is intentional; the figures are all supposed to be in scale with one another.
Cosbydaf - August 12, 2012 04:13 AM (GMT)
Ho-ly shit. To say that's an impressive collection is an understatement!
Could we get a shot of the Godzilla Revoltechs and Monsterarts together?
ScutigeraColeoptrata - August 12, 2012 04:24 AM (GMT)
Cosbydaf - August 12, 2012 04:26 AM (GMT)
Thanks man! And wow, they do make a really awesome looking group. Hope I can get a few more of these later on.
ScutigeraColeoptrata - August 12, 2012 04:29 AM (GMT)
The Revoltechs were cheaper than the Monsterarts, but are now becoming somewhat rare. I've found from experience that the most inexpensive way to collect these lines is to purchase new releases as they come out.
It's pretty neat how the Fire Rodan and Showa Rodan are about the same size, and that Baragon is perfectly scaled with Heisei Godzilla.
