Title: Aquatic/semi-aquatic life thread
Description: Glub glub glub.

Veninax - April 3, 2011 11:29 PM (GMT)
During my epic vacation to the Bahamas, I traveled to a beach. I found all sorts of cool little critters there. Sea urchins, huge sea snails, crabs, sea cucumbers. ALL that good stuff. All this madness inspired me to make a thread about all sorts of creatures that live in or around water.

Japanese giant salamander is cute. I want one for a pet to band there in the endangered animals list. It would be sad to lose the largest living amphibian species.

I love sharks. Great whites are cool but I'm rather fond of Tiger sharks, personally.

There is a traditional Hawaiian weapon called the Leiomano, which is a type of club with Tiger shark teeth attatched to it.

And while I'm on the subject of carnivorous fish with the word Tiger in their names, the Goliath Tigerfish is Africa's bigger, meaner answer to the Piranha, and has one of the scariest sets of jaws around.

user posted image

It grows up to five feet long, can weigh over 100lbs and its bite force is comparable to a hyena's.

I myself adore abyssal fish of all shape and size.
Come to think of it, if it's a fish, is ugly, and has sharp teeth, I love it.

It is my greatest shame and displeasure that I cannot find any good pictures of swimming star-nose moles because those things even give platypuses a run for their money in the "bizarre and adorable semi-aquatic mammal" category.

I dreamt I was a giant Man-O-War once, with tentacles stretching all the way down to the sea floor (2000 meters, to be exact) and with a bunch of people sitting on top of me. It was pretty awesome.

Oh, nifty. I've got a plush horseshoe crab, but it's not nearly as detailed as that one.
