Fango has learned that a sequel to the Charles Band-directed 2005 flick THE GINGERDEAD MAN is currently in preproduction, with plans to commence principal photography on May 15. Written and to be directed by Sylvia St. Croix (who co-scripted the original) with Full Moon Entertainment head Band on board as producer, the follow-up possesses the cheeky title GINGERDEAD MAN 2: PASSION OF THE CRUST. St. Croix reveals of the story, “It takes place on the set of an ultra-low-budget horror film, where a sick Make-a-Wish-type kid wants to meet the cast and crew. He and the others get more than they bargain for when the world’s most ruthless, violent yet chewy and delicious cookie returns to continue his murderous killing spree. Bad yeast will rise again—with the ultimate in horrible taste.” Expect “several cameos from familiar genre faces both in front of and behind the camera,” the filmmaker adds.

Gingerdead 2, Decadent 2... what's up with CB only making sequels to his recent less successful movies while sequels to his long established franchises (and money makers) remain promised but not delivered? Something's fishy over at Full Moon Features...

OMG, WTF. I laughed so hard when I read the title. It is really weird that Charlie didn't spill the beans on this one, when he announced all the other pre-production titles in the works.

That's a funny thing. Trancers, one of the few franchise rights he is confirmed to have kept, is something he doesn't want to make another chapter of, yet announces sequels to movies that are debatable if he still has the rights for.
I'm surprised too, like the chap above, that CB didn't announce this himself. Also surprised he's letting someone else direct it - I thought his rule was that for his new company, he'd direct every single one? Ah well, I'm actually glad he's handing the reigns around a bit, hopefully it will result in more divergent styles.

This makes be feel a little better about FMF now, with a little more diversity. It seems like Band just makes movies for 2 reasons now: !. Money 2. For Himself (obviously he likes his shitty series's like GDM and DE)

A sequel to this now? With all the other sequels planned?
I hope Gary Busey returns. And Charles Band, if you come around here, remember my idea. The killer cookie debuts on Reality Cooking TV. Think about it.

Guess he is not directing to see if a real director could make a SUCCESSFULL film.Notice all of his old movies that WERE hits, were directed by OTHER people who are REAL directors?Real original title as well,"DUDE",LMFAO.

Should be Gingerdead Man vs. Rachael Ray.
No seriously, I hope they make this right this time. The first was a promising idea but fell flat. I want more gore, a longer running time, and more cheesy jokes, I hope this delivers. With someone else directing maybe it will. The title is promising, at least.

Anyone remember that buy $100.00 worth of Full Moon products, you get Executive Producer credit on a Full Moon movie? Apparently this one might be it. I guess they're making it, but maybe not until 2008. Or something, I don't know.
