As anticipated, Sony¡¯s Bond 23 ¡ª the long-awaited follow-up to 2008¡äs Quantum of Solace ¡ª will be titled Skyfall, according to producers for the film who held a press conference this morning. Producers also confirmed that Javier Bardem would be playing the villain in the Daniel Craig-led film (even though Bardem himself already confirmed the news himself to Nightline).

The press conference also addressed other rumored cast members: Naomie Harris will indeed star in the film, playing Eve, a field agent. Berenice Marlohe will also appear in Skyfall, while Judi Dench will return to play M. Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes and Albert Finney will also be in the film. Though these casting announcements were hardly unexpected, director Sam Mendes still amped up excitement for Skyfall, which begins filming today in London. ¡°There¡¯s lots of surprises,¡± he said. ¡°[Skyfall] is its own story. It doesn¡¯t connect with the last two movies.¡±

At least we can look forward to a picturesque Skyfall: Mendes told reporters Skyfall will shoot in Scotland, Istanbul, and Shanghai.

Sounds kind of sci-fi(isj), but okay. Heard its a stand alone story, so no direct sequel again. Hope it returns to the Bond formula.

Been forever since I watched a Bond film. Hell, I might make it a goal at some point to get every Bond movie.

I recently purchased the first three Bond films; Sean Connery 007 Collection Volume 1. Contains the titles; Dr. No, From Russia With Love, and Goldfinger. Have yet to even open it. The reason behind buying it was for Dinner and a Movie Night. But now every time I mention it the wife says how she'd rather watch something else. Sooner or later I'll get tired of that, and watch it on my own. Thing is, it was her idea. I walked into the house one day and she's watching a Bond flick. A few days later while shopping I come across Volume One, so I call her and mention it. She likes; "oh sure".....

As a young teenager I got into reading Ian Fleming (Bond creator). Every book I read was a good read. This was around the time Roger Moore played Bond in Live And Let Die. I loved the song (Paul McCartney). Went to see it in a theater. A fun flick.

Over the years there has been hits and misses regarding the secret agent movies. Not that I seen all of them, or even most. I'd still recommend with the attitude of just finding out for yourself. You never know...you might dig it. If not anything else, lots of good looking women and cool cars.

All of the Bond films are great really, but some weaker than others. I think my favorite films are the Connery and Moore movies. Moore gets a bad rap because he was so tongue 'n' cheek. I tend to have Bond marathons ever so often.

I also own the Thunderball remake NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN, which is fun. I also have the 1960's CASINO ROYALE spoof, and the DVD came with the original 1954 adaptation starring Barry Nelson.

did anyone here know that "Ian Fleming" is "Christopher Lee's" cousin?

& that he wanted "Lee" to do "Dr. No." & "Christopher Lee' was dying to it. but than they i guess decided NOT to cast him & found "Joseph Wiseman" instead. so when he was offered 'The Man With The Golden Gun" he fucking took it! laugh.gif cuz he loved the books & the series. & he had a ball making it too. wink.gif

Damn, all this talk about Bond is making me create a wish list on amazon now haha. Most recent Bond film I saw was The World is Not Enough.

Ones I've seen: Dr. No, Goldfinger, Golden Eye, From Russia with Love, Tomorrow Never Dies, World is Not Enough, Octopussy, The Spy Who Loved Me, and I think that is it. Would catch them on tv from time to time as my dad was a fan of the movies when I was growing up.

I did, however, used to watch James Bond Jr. cartoon on occasion haha

That's what my wife must have been doing. Turning channels and found a Bond flick. I walked in, and saw her getting into it, so I responded by purchasing the first three films. And now she shows no interest. Women.....(can't live with them / can't live without them).

If all you guys lived closer, I'd just invite you all over and we could have our own Bond marathon.

GB

PS: My guess would be watching them on DVD (maybe even Blu-ray), would be a totally different experience then catching it on TV. No commercials. No edits. Just Bond...James Bond.

I believe the Dallas ranch from the TV show, is actually located in Dallas. Texas is a HUGE State. From where I live to the city of Dallas is about a 3 and a half hour drive, give or take. My last time there was this past February to see the ex-lead singer of Yes, Jon Anderson in concert. We had a good time. Next time in Dallas and we're just pissing around, I'll try to at least drive past it.

that's a show i do like. but i haven't been to the ranch yet. maybe someday i honestly dunno? it's just one of those things that if i'm not well i'm not. it's not a big deal for me. i was just curious if you've ever been there.

yes i think it actually is in "Dallas' i always call "Texas" the Flood State actually & have always called it that. really cause growing up i always seem to see some area in the state have this HUGE fucking flood at least somewhere there. it i'm sure wasn't always the same place

but that's just how it feels to me that's all. as for music, i don't mind country music depending on who it is. but i couldn't stand that much of it if i went there. & no rock & roll which is my #1 favorite type of music.

i've been to Kentucky & that's all that's on the radio is Country Music. that's fine for the state & for the people who live there. but it just isn't my kind of music that's all

OK.....

Texas in General: Like everything and everybody else, we are stereotyped. Believe me, it's not all horses, cowboys, and country music.

Houston is the forth largest city in the Country. Between Baytown and Sugarland (border towns) we have about six million people. I never see horses. Their are only a couple or a few country music stations on the radio. Music just comes from all over. Sure we have rock n' roll. I've been here since '86. Had LOTS of cool rock moments.

Flooding: Houston is four feet above sea level. Spit in the street and it causes flooding. That's a joke by the way. I do after some bad rains see flooding. Other parts of the country are just as bad, if not worse.

Maybe one day you can come and visit Texas, to check it out for yourself. It can get very hot here, so watch the time of year you come. Weather can and does change with just driving around the State. Could be snowing in one part (like the panhandle), and sunny in San Antonio.

Dude, is this film great. I still like the Connery, Moore, and Dalton films better, but this is the best Graig Bond, though. CASINO ROYALE is overrated, QUANTUM OF SOLACE is the series weak link, but SKYFALL really changed that. I can't wait for Daniel Craig to make another.

Best Bond theme in a long damn time, too.
