I've been going absolutely gaga over this flick lately. Strong links to my childhood. Has a corny rep, but I think it's absolutely elegant in parts... JCB did an excellent job. Gotta dig Sonny Bono too. But can't forgive Michael Moriarty's singing. Cringe!

A great film. Haven't heard such for TROLL II though. Which isn't a sequel I've heard. Those Italians and their ripoffs.

The apparent third TROLL film, that isn't the Canadian film "The Crawlers."

TROLL 3: SWORD OF POWER

I love TROLL 2 & 3, I have them both. TROLL 1 & 2 were released on a double-DVD by MGM in pristine form.

Troll 2 was released in Europe on October 3, 1990 but not in the states until the Summer of '92

EDIT: It also went Straight to Video in the US laugh.gif

Call me crazy, I find the sequel a million times more fun/entertaining... Troll was strong in certain areas, but in other areas it was so weak/bad that it dragged the strong areas down big time. The sequel I remember watching all the time on HBO as a kid (I even wrote a "script" to it when I was like 7-8 years old, which obviously by script,I mean a 4-5 page story haha).

I upped that Troll 3 clip (or "montage", I suppose it would be best to say). Like I said in the information bar on the video page, it's only unofficially Troll 3, in the same way that The Crawlers is - however I much prefer this one, seeing as it actually has some vague connection with the first two! (The use of the troll - goblin? - masks and a fantasy element not entirely dissimilar to the first film.)

It's actually the fourth in Joe D'Amato's Ator series, a bunch of sword-and-sorcery rip-offs he did after Conan The Barbarian became a big success. In most territories it went under the titles Quest For The Mighty Sword or Hobgoblin. Splendid Video however, who released Troll 2 in Germany, saw the goblin masks and figured they could exploit the Troll connection by retitling the film Troll Teil 3. It then showed up on German TV channel RTL2 in 1998 under the title Troll: Das Schwert Der Macht (The Sword Of Power), in a double bill with Troll 2.

It's a pretty awful film, but good fun to take the piss out of with your mates over a few beers.

Never seen it, but I've heard of the Ator movies. The fourth had a different actor I hear. I've seen the MST3K version of the second one, CAVE DWELLERS.
