Title: Tourist Trap (1979)
Sean Wallace - September 22, 2006 10:49 PM (GMT)
http://home.earthlink.net/~horrormovies/touristtrap/This is one of Charles Band's best films. I love it. Directed by PUPPET MASTER's David Schmoeller and starring the late Chuck Connors and the still pretty hot Tanya Roberts.
HOUSE OF WAX eat your heart out.

LOL, that's stupid they put Full Moon's logo on the UK release.
I agree with you. One of the best. Chuck Conners holds this together with his dual performance. Half the time you feel sorry for him, the other half you solidly fear him.
Love the pipe impalement, used again for PARASITE (only in 3D then!)
Sean Wallace - October 22, 2006 10:06 PM (GMT)
The DVD is excellent too, false advertising, it doesn't have around 50 Full Moon trailers, just ones from the Cult Video label. Thanks to them I so wanna see ASSAULT OF THE KILLER BIMBOS, SORORITY BABES IN THE SLIMEBALL BOWL-O-RAMA, CANNIBAL WOMEN IN AVOCADO JUNGLE OF DEATH, and SLAVE GIRLS FROM BEYOND INFINITY.
On the down side, David Schmoeller's commentary ain't so great. Pausing, trying to remember stuff that happened in the film. He porbably should've researched it a little first.

What's stupid about that? It was released in the UK by the Full Moon video label. Check the catalogue number on the spine that begins FM. Note the lack of any other company logo.
This tape was released by a company called Allied Troma. They had the UK video rights to a bunch of Troma titles and a bunch of other films, including a number licensed from Full Moon. Tourist Trap was licensed to Allied Troma by Fulll Moon. Why shouldn't they release this and the other titles they got from CB with the Full Moon logo? In fact, they were probably contractually required to do so.
I suspect you don't understand how international film rights deals work.

i haven't got a chance to see this one. but Chuck Conner's really ONLY role that i know him from is a child hood favorite that unfortually NOT ON DVD! "Summer Campe Nightmare" (1987) THAT was made by "Roger Corman'" though. did anyone see that one? & i dunno much about Bands distribution deals but "Corman" has done MANY 'Foreign" film MAINLY in the 70's like 'Amaracord" (1974) i think? 'Cries & whispers" (1971) just to start with.

I own that movie too. It's like "LORD OF THE FLIES" at a summer camp. Based on the novel "The Butterfly Revolution."
stimpy - October 23, 2006 08:27 AM (GMT)
i've NEVER seen 'Lord of the flies" myself ANY Version of it. my brother who'll be 33
years old in Jan. read the book & watched the film. the (1989) version i believe & he thought both of them were a bit boring! but "Summer Camp" at the time he enjoyed MORE! that's one film that's i think out of print but by me it's a film that prolly can be easy to find. which is just TOO FUNNY ya know?

I've seen that remake of LORD OF THE FLIES, it's been a TV before. I don't really like to watch it, those kids are psychos.
I got SUMMER CAMP NIGHTMARE on VHS a long time ago from Movie Gallery. It's not actually a 'horror' movie, I was expecting it to be about a psycho at a camp, you know, a FRIDAY THE 13TH ripoff.
Also, I got that HOUSE OF WAX remake for Christmas, alright movie. TOURIST TRAP is creepier. A remake of TOURIST TRAP, I hope not, but like if I did one or something, I could make it very frightening.

Trivia* The plaster used in the death scene was actually dough.
* The script originally called for nudity, but Schmoeller said he was too embarrassed to bring it up during casting. When they got to the lake scene, he finally asked them if they'd be willing. The collective answer was no.
*Schmoeller's real-life parents played the Connors' "parents" in the movie.
*Schmoeller's then-wife is the mannequin who gives the female lead something to drink.

According to Schmoeller's commentary, his then-wife had 2 lines, but they had to be edited. She then never forgave him for that.

Maybe she was just a bad actress. Or her voice sounds like a Chipmunk.

sounds like she's easily offended.

That one scene of Slausen and the table girl doesn't happen in the movie. And you should know what I mean.

| Teenagers come across a shut-in psychopath (played by Chuck Connors) with telekinetic powers. He proceeds to use these powers to slay them one by one as well as animate the various mannequins he uses to keep himself company. Written by Dan Coker {pammyk@primenet.com} |

| Four people go in search of their missing friend. What they find is Slausen's Lost Oasis, and mannequin dressed museum and a seemingly abadoned mansion owned by gentle old Mr. Slausen. He agrees to help with thei car trouble, but some of the girls decide to look for a working phone inside the house even though Mr. Slausen warned them not too. Hidden within the home is Mr. Slausen's misunderstood mask hidden younger brother. What they learn is that the mannaquins seem very much alive, or is there something much more terrifying behind the mask? Written by Wallace Entertainment |
One summary cleverly hides the major plot twist, while the other one callously throws it out.
Just saw this posted on IMDb. I wouldn't recommend anyone read the short summary, it ruins the movie.
I am Wallace Entertainment. I use that name mostly for my screenplays. I made so many spelling errors.

I just sent Robin a message. You know, just saying TOURIST TRAP and DEATH WISH II are cool movies. And even mentioned that if there ever was a sequel made, maybe Robin could return to play her own living mannequin. B)

I FINALLY fucking got to see this damn film! i downloaded it from a horror site that i like to visit. for free! & i just got finished watching it actually. i don't think it was a GREAT movie. buut a decent film. i'll prolly watch it again someday. ;) & it's actually an original fucking IDEA! i for YEARS thought it was in the vein of "Dolls" & "The Puppetmaster" series. i guess i was WRONG! ONLY cuz of the cover art. ya know i was trying to think of the LAST original film that i actually SAW that was original & "Saw" (2004) would have to be it. i didn't see the 1st film until like (2006) i think it was? before that was 'Skeleton Key" can anyone think of 1 film that's come out that wasn't based on a book or a remake that was an actually original fucking idea? i KNOW I SURE A HELL CAN"T!
BY THE WAY IF YA HAVEN'T SEEN THIS DON'T READ
BELOW! "SPOILER"
by the way can anyone explain the ending to me? chuck conners dies ok. the way he was killed kinda reminded me of friday the 13th pt. 2 when jason gets the same treatment at the end of it. cept he doesn't die in that one. anywys.
in this film. he faked out molly & somehow turned jerry into one of his creations. i got that part. than she screams & she leaves in the car with her manniqens friends? or however ya spell that? with a shit eating grin on her face & my thoughts were HUH? what the fuck? ya know for a Band film it was made EXTREMLY WELL! like a theaterical film, i dunno IF It was in the theaters at the time buut i can see it being in one at the time. & it was made a LOT BETTER than MOST "Band" films during any era of his. least of the films that i've seen. least i think so. & i can see a sequel to it. as long at that girl that played molly is in it. IF they have her as a killer of course. IF that was the intention of her losing her mind at the end. anywys decent film though.

Think the director mentioned in the commentary, she went insane, and belives her mannequin friends are still "alive."
Co-written and directed by David Schmoeller (PUPPET MASTER, NETHERWORLD). This film did go to theatres. However it was given a PG rating (much to the surprise of the cast and crew), and because of that the movie bombed. :(
I would've loved a sequel. I think David mentioned she was a acting teacher now or something. She works at a University.
stimpy - June 29, 2008 05:16 AM (GMT)
well according to INDB that was David S. wife at the time. soo my guess he's still on good terms with her. soo he'd prolly know. & it also said that the woman who gave her water was his mom. the directors is of course what i meant. & reason i put a spoiler on this one while i don't normally put those on is cause it's a film where ya don't know who the killer is upon 1st viewing. & as for her going insane. well in the movie i mean. THAT makes sense. & they gave it a PG rating? i didn't look at what it was rated. uh WHY? i can understand why it bombed though. just for THAT reason alone. there's another film i am trying to think of that they did that & it bombed cuz of the same reason.
what the fuck were they thinking? this isn't no PG film. Chuck Conners was GOOD in this though. & it's odd that tanya roberts is in this one. i didn't even know which girl was her till i looked it up. cuz her voice is different back than, than it is NOW! plus she's blonde NOW & wasn't than. & no i am NOT a charlie's angels fan soo that's why i wasn't really paying any attention. i haven't seen this on dvd since last year though. i guess i was worried as well that it would SUCK! NOW I'm dying to get it cuz i want to hear that commentary! who released the dvd anyways? the transfer is damn good. it wasn't full moon THAT"s for damn sure. plus it was letterboxed! ;)
