So I am again doing that thing I do every so often. This time it's with a big package tour, so goodbye vans and apartment floors, hello buses and hotels. I think the lineup is pretty solid - Slayer, Motorhead, Anthrax, High on Fire, Slipknot - so I'm stoked.

The dates and general metro areas are correct here, but several are the big amphitheaters outside of town, you know the drill.

Anyhow, come party.

6/30 – San Bernardino, CA
7/1 – San Francisco, CA
7/3 – Seattle, WA
7/4 - Boise, ID
7/6 – Phoenix, AZ
7/7 – Albuquerque, NM
7/8 – Denver, CO
7/10 – Dallas, TX
7/11 – Houston, TX
7/13 – Tampa, FL
7/14 – Atlanta, GA
7/15 – Indianapolis, IN
7/17 - Bonner Springs, KS
7/18 – Oklahoma City, OK
7/20 – St. Louis, MO
7/21 – Chicago, IL
7/22 – Detroit, MI
7/24 – Cincinnati, OH
7/25 – Cleveland, OH
7/27 – Philadelphia, PA
7/28 – Pittsburgh, PA
7/29 – Washington, DC
7/31 – Saratoga, NY
8/3 – Boston, MA
8/4 – Scranton, PA
8/5 – Hartford, CT

I'll probably continue to use this thread to update on shenanigans and whatnot once the tour starts, which feels like ages from now.

Bonner Springs? More like BONER SPRINGS RITE!?!!?! Have fun sleeping in bomb shelters.

For serious, sounds like a blast. Keep us updated and bonus points if you can get Slipknot booed offstage.

Aww, poor Slipknot. :( I'm friendly with Corey and Clown, I was just talking to them earlier this week. They're nice enough dudes. It would probably be bad form to mock the band that pays the bills.

When we were driving to Golden Gods the other day, we ended up alongside Clown on the 101. I wanted so badly to roll down the window and shout SUCK THESE NUTS at him, but it didn't happen.

Haha so the production company is now asking me if I want to be involved with the Uproar Fest in the fall, which is a decidedly more modern rock radio-friendly lineup. Here's the rumored bands:

Shinedown
Godsmack
Staind
Buckcherry
P.O.D.
Papa Roach

OH HELL YES

I'll have way better stories about this than Mayhem Fest, probably

These bands still exist. The fact that they do still exist must partially be due to the massive self-hate of their members, which will certainly, as you say, contribute to some stories.

Honestly the Buckcherry and Papa Roach dudes have always been super nice to me, music notwithstanding. It probably actually makes it a little easier to get my work done if I'm not like FUCK, GOTTA RUSH THIS INVENTORY CHECK SO I CAN GO SEE SLAYER IN 15 MINUTES. Probably get more sleep and read some books.

That's actually pretty cool. I mean, especially Buckcherry has this public persona of Pure Scumbag, but if they're nice in person, then I can't knock them. It's interesting, at least I think so, to look at how bands present themselves publicly vs. how they actually act.

I mean, they could still be scumbags, but as long as they invite me in on the fun, then no harm done. I watched/mocked Black Veil Brides with the Buckcherry guys during Golden Gods, that was fun. Their drummer is especially pleasant, he remembered me from some interview we did five years ago.

Hmm, I've always seen this as a sign of character. Nice.

Yeah, I saw him at Golden Gods and without any prompting he was like, "Hey, didn't we do an interview in a tent in New Jersey once?" and I said, "Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what happened." I didn't even remember who he was until I saw him with the rest of the band, so I'm the jerk

"Shinedown and Godsmack have arguably been making music for several years and have garnered legions of what some experts refer to as 'fans.'"

Hmm now it looks like I might spend about a week on the road with Trivium later this month. Could be fun. Kinda become buddies with Heafy over the last few years.

I haven't heard of 1/2 of those bands... I would love to go to that just to shout random things like "yeaaahhh Candlelight Red!"

more like a hit list

A lot of the bands are doing Heavy MTL and Heavy TO after Mayhem is over, if I make enough friends maybe I'll tag along, I'm getting my passport renewed as we speak. I'd probably do MTL, since I have more friends in Montreal and can crash with the Priestess dudes

I would love to hit the San Francisco or Seattle shows, but I'm too damn broke. Now, if there was a Portland show I would definitely be there.

Whew, they're shelving my possible involvement with Uproar until next year, but Mayhem is still a go. I head out to LA next week to prepare. Getting pretty stoked.

I'd really like to go to Mayhem Fest, but $30 for just lawn tickets might be way too damn much for me.

My buddies' band is supposed to play some battle of the bands to get a local opening spot. wonder if I could tag along with them and "sell merch", aka get in for free and lose my shit during slipknot and slayer.
