this is weird. i like the movie thread when i'm not the second one posting. f*** whoever deleted it!

anyways...

Halloween - 7/10

the bad: how weird was it that in 17 years, the time setting changed from the 70's to '07. wtf? why is it that Rob Zombie absolutely have to make everything southern white trashy? i don't recall the original Micheal Myers family being that way. i didn't like how he made this more campy than the original.. with more tits and blood than needed. after all, the original was based more on suspense than balls-out blood and guts. that's what the Friday the 13th movies were for. oh, and the kid who played Micheal Myers was kind of lame.

the good: excellent suspense and direction. not terribly surprising that Rob Zombie re-used a plot, because seemingly he's only good at re-using ideas, however, he executed this re-interpretation quite well. the plot kept me interested, the grittiness was convincing, and some of the violence was well done. all the chicks were f***ing hot.

The Fountain | 10/10

9th viewing of this (on HD DVD this time). I took more from it than I ever have before. I've decided on my own theory of the events within it, though an explanation is hardly necessary. I have trouble keeping Eternal Sunshine above it but I suppose it will stay that way for now. I'm confident that no film will match this for quite a while.

QUOTE (dyess' suicide note)
i can't take it anymore. in a world where the fountain, the greatest movie ever known to man, doesn't win an oscar, yet dane cook pretends to be funny and wins every oscar. what's next, glassjaw winning every grammy award?? Even dredg can't save me now. mom, i cleaned my room for you. you can get rid of my stuff if you want. hernandez, i want you to take care of my flashlight and 36 crazyfists shirts.

goodbye,

Superbad - 8/10
pure hilarity. Pretty fair writing, good performances by the cast, overall extremely enjoyable for what it is. I laughed a lot.

Hot Fuzz - 7/10
good stuff. I didn't find it up to par with Shaun of The Dead but it was still extremely enjoyable and ridiculous.

Tonight should be Blades of Glory and/or Idiocracy..

I've been in the mood for comedies lately..

I recommend Idiocracy over Blades of Glory... I mean, I didn't see Blades of Glory, but I know that Idiocracy is pretty entertaining. Keep an eye on things in the background - especially anything with words.

one of the funniest lines in Blades of Glory doesn't involve Ferrell or Heder ....

Katie: "No, I have to make things right and let them know the truth" *starts to leave*
Stranz: *in typical Will Arnett voice of not caring* "No Katie, don't go, we love you and stuff"

lmao.

Knocked Up - it made me cry/10.

It was just a cute movie. I'm pretty happy they showed the 'crowning' of the infant coming out of her vagina, yeah. Perfect! I don't know why this movie was/is as popular as it seems to be, but it's just a fun movie, I guess. Nothing crazy. Kind of aggravating at more than one character...they all get on my nerves in one or more ways. It's an all-around aggravation fest at the attitudes in there. But at least they showed the vaginal crowning. Ohh, anyway, it made me cry because I thought of mom, who I'm not getting along with at all, in days and days (I've figured out she's the reason for my panic attacks, yep), and then I thought of her delivering all four of us (nevermind the three or four abortions, they don't count right now), natural. Must mean she loves us at least a little eh? Hehe. But yeah, the whole 'motherhood' aspect just got me emotional.

Blades of Glory - 7.5/8 out of 10.
It's so ridiculous that it's funny. Plus I love Will Farrell.

but you see... 300 is just one of those popular demand films that'll come out with a special edition release every 3 months.

like Lord of the Rings... Star Wars... Halloween...

Shortbus - 8.5/10

one of the few recent slew of films to try and bring back explicit, unsimulated sex in mainstream indie films, Shortbus is actually a really good approach at sexual frustration and relationships, all under the over-abundant culture climate of New York City. yeah, so you have to sit through dudes blowing each other here and there, but you're only gay if you get a boner watching it. f***in' surprisingly good movie nonetheless. i didn't expect much from the same praised director that dished out Hedwig and the Angry Inch (never saw it, and never wanted to really - to be honest).
