Never had it...I'll keep an eye out for it though.

I have been on this never ending search for Berry Weiss, and I have not been able to find it, I even went to a beer specialty store.

:satan: @ using orange slices. whipped cream sounds too f***ing odd to me though.

And if you can find blue moon but can't find leine's, next time you go to a bar see if they have blue moon on tap, blue moon on tap tastes pretty much exactly like leine's sunset wheat. It's a start.

I read on teh bottle about the orange. I dont like the fruity alcohol deal, plus its beer and I cant imagine it enhancing the taste.

I'm not a wheat fan myself. Still, if you really like that style, you should check out some of the Bavarians. Weihenstephan makes one of the best wheat beers around. It's actually the oldest brewery in the world.

Flying Dog's In-heat Wheat, Avery's Belgian Wheat, and Paulaner Hefeweizen are also big hits amongst most wheat beer drinkers.

It definitely makes it better. I didn't try it forever because a chick told me that, and women have terrible taste in alcohol, but eventually I did and that's usually how I always drink it. Pour a mug and slap a fat orange slice in that bitch.

I get upset when there is no orange slice in it, there is one restaurant around here that puts a thick Blood orange slice in it.... and that's even better than a regular one... but I think they are the only ones who do it.

And for those people who enjoy Blue Moon, go to a nice big liquor store and find a Belgian import called "Hoegaarden". It's got the same cloudy sweet taste as Blue Moon, but the aftertaste is cloves and spice as opposed to fruity orange. It is delicious.

Hoegaarden has definitely become the import representative for the trend in wheat beers in the US with Blue Moon being the domestic.

My ex's favorite beer was Hoegaarden.

There really aren't too many other beers in the Belgian wheat style that come close to those two... at least not that I've had. I tried doing some brief research on the matter and there doesn't seem to be many domestic varieties.

I know that Blue Moon has 4 seasonal brews, the common Blue Moon with an orange peel variety being their spring ale. The fall ale is gross and the summer ale is tasty.

There are a lot of American craft brew companies making better Belgian Wheats than Blue Moon, you just have to find the store that carries them and just sample them all.

Blue Moon is a great introductory beer for wheats, in the same way Guiness is good for stouts or Sierra Nevada for IPAs (though this is a bit different because even after getting way into IPAs, this still stacks up as a solid product). Similar to Guiness, though, once you delve deeper into that particular beer style, you'll rarely come back to Blue Moon, especially if you live in the Northeast, Midwest, or West Coast.

I couldn't remember who the other user was on here that knew their sh*t about beer.

Unibroue is one of the very best North America has to offer, you didn't mention my favorite product of theirs, though: the mighty Maudite.

North Coast is also awesome. They make Old Rasputin, Pranqster and a few others that are very good.

i'm uncertain as to the various alcohol/mail laws, but if they can ship to you, bevmo.com is the way to go. they have a great selection and for hard to find stuff, it's very reasonable even factoring shipping in.......i rarely sign up for any type of email lists but this one has been worth it.

everybody loves getting stuff in the mail, and there's just nothing like having someone else deliver your lazy ass some booze

I like Hoegaarden as well.
It's not a favorite but I'll drink it.

Also, for a crazy stout...check out Young's Double Chocolate Stout. It's pretty good but hefty and I only like it served very cold.

I'm all about microbrew's too. I like going to a world market and picking up various 6-packs.

My taste's always lean toward pale ale's, stout and extra bitters.

Golden Monkey is also good every once in a while.

A local pub called the muddy pig serves lesser-known imports and rates everything by alcohol content - giving detailed descriptions. They have an impressive menu.

i hate the double chocolate stout, but the old nick's stuff is pretty good.

i know it's not l33t, but last time i was at the bevmo store, they had this miller honey brew stuff on clearance for like $4 a 6 pack.......and it's not amazing or of substantial quality by any means, but it was definitely ok as far as a novelty beer goes and it was terribly smooth. i believe we finished 5 of them during the 10-15 minute drive.
