Rogue: a versatile character, capable of sneaky combat and nimble tricks.
Characteristics: The rogue is jack of all trades. They are adept at fighting, stealing and, in some cases, magic. A rogue is often more proficient in one or two of these areas than in the others. They usually work alone, unless they have a reason to work with a group. They are generally looked down upon by all races and are often hunted by authorities and shunned by the populace because of this they have a tendency to run or hide when worse comes to worse.
Alignment: Rogues are never lawful, though they may or may not have their own sense of justice. Some are dangerous, others are simply a nuisance.
Background: Rogues usually come from overpopulated cities. Sometimes they are lured from civilization with the promises of riches or other gain. They could also have escaped slavery, been a soldier, or were driven to the proffesion by other bad circumstance.
Races: A rogue can be any race. However, most rogues come from races that are medium to small in stature since larger races would have a hard time with stealing and avoiding authorities.
Other information: Rogues generally use smaller weapons such as daggers when fighting, anything that can be concealed by a cloak or long sleeves. They generally have the weapons hidden. They can also carry lock picking equipment and/or poisons/potions in addition to their weapons.
