Telescreen Communication Telescreens allow people to communicate face-to-face, no matter what the distance. Most middle-class families have at least one in the home now, and they're simple to use, once you're accustomed to them. It basically involves turning the telescreen on, pronouncing the name of a fellow telescreen user, and bam! Face-to-face communication. It doesn't get much easier than that! Palaver Communication A recent Mercurian invention, called the Palaver, is way more handy than even a telescreen, as it's as portable as you are! A chip is installed into the willing user's palm, and when the palm is touched to the forehead, the chip will call whoever the user is thinking of at the moment. Communication is limited to other Palaver users, but more and more people are having the chips installed now. Additional chips near the voicebox and eardrums serve as speakers.
