For sixteen years the wizarding world saw a golden age. Kingsley Shaklebolt led the world into a time of peace and harmony. Laws were passed promising equality for all magical creatures. Neville Longbottom replaced Minerva McGonagall after eleven years of teaching Herbology. Headmaster Longbottom altered Hogwarts in ways no one ever thought possible. Before the end of his second term, Neville changed the admittance rules to accept werewolves and vampires. Despite protest, nothing bad came of these changes. The people trusted Headmaster Longbottom and Minister Shacklebolt, after all they helped bring the peace they wouldn’t ruin it.
May 2nd, 2023. Exactly twenty-five years after the war. A quarter of a century since the fall of Lord Voldemort. The Order’s children are now in school, learning everything their parents know and more. A letter reaches Minister Shacklebolt’s desk, signed with blood and promising the end of the Golden Age. Shacklebolt keeps the letter a secret to protect the people from the fear and chaos he knows would erupt. It doesn’t work, Shacklebolt awakens to find the letter posted everywhere; on street lamps, buildings, even in the daily prophet. At first people blame Voldermort’s death eaters. After all, if they wanted to purge the world before what would have changed in twenty-five years? Nothing, in fact some of the now middle-aged supporters are excited at the idea of a new Dark Lord, if only they knew who this person was.
July 2023. For a while it seemed like the letter was just a horrible joke, nothing happened afterwards to prove that the sender was serious. Now the people found their truth. Kingsley Shacklebolt was found dead early on July 1st. He had been murdered and left on the steps of the Ministry with a new note attached to his shirt. The note, once again signed in blood, promised a revolution. It stated that the sender would find those, most likely to support the cause and create a new army: the black hand. The members of this army are secret, no one knows who is or isn’t a member creating paranoia among friends and family. On the fourteenth, just two weeks after the death of Shacklebolt, a young man goes missing. Torin Lorman was known for his love of muggles. Three days later another muggle-lover goes missing. The wizarding world begins to fear that muggle-borns will be targeted, that this new black-hand is here to rid the world of the impure, just as Voldemort wanted. This is proven wrong when Giselle Solimon a pure blood disappears from her home. A new Minister of Magic is instated, Dagbert Pips. He is a weak man and it becomes obvious that he is being manipulated.
Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang are considered the only safe havens for the children of the next generation and so all children are sent back to school for another year. But the fears of their parents have tainted their innocence. Alliances are formed as the students band together fearing that their best-friend may be a supporter of this new evil.
