The Cataclysm is a disastrous event that took place nearly sixty years ago. It is a event of mystery, no one really knows what happened except that in the span of a single night Old Quarter was overrun by undead. Everyone living in Old Quarter at that time seemingly just disappeared and it is believed that the undead that roamed the district were in fact it’s former inhabitants.

No one in The City ever laid eyes upon the district after it feel into run. It was immediately sealed off by order of the Baron. It continued to be sealed of for the larger part of the next fifty years in which the situation was kept under control, meaning that no undead ever breached the outer walls of Old Quarter. And except for a few, unlucky, adventurous souls, no citizen of The City every set foot within this district.

But a few years ago, the Hammerites breached the wall and drove the undead out of the district, destroying most of them in the process and bannimg the ones that they couldn’t destroy to the Bonehoard. Among the chaos they discovered a strange jewel, called The Eye. The Eye had managed to seal itself in a large cathedral (the one that is now called Fort Ironwood) and was surrounded by various undead creature. It was determent that the Eye was the cause of the Cataclysm and it was removed by the Hammerites and handed over into the care of the Wieldstrom Museum.
