Role-Playing Registering
When registering, please register with a first and last name with proper capitalization.
Correct: John Smith Incorrect: John Jacob Smith, JOHN SMITH, JOHN JACOB SMITH.
If you are wanting a canon and someone has already registered for that canon (but has not posted an application), then please feel free to add something to the end of the name to distinguish it. [This is easily fixed upon your acceptance.]
Posting
1. Don’t Bury Your Eyes holds an Unrated rating. However if your thread plans to become explicit, or you can see it heading that way, please be sure to insert a warning in the title/description or ask an admin to do so for you.
2. Please use proper grammar and punctuation as best as possible. Everyone makes mistakes here and there, but try to keep it to a minimum. We won't kill you though for a few mistakes. The Minister of Magic might, but it's a good thing he's under control.
3. Posts should be written in Third Person Point of View, Past Tense. There is no required minimum word count, but we do not allow one liners. That's really the only restriction truthfully. Just write what you feel is necessary and works for you, the writer. 3.1 -- I'm sure some of our members and guests love them, but sadly we would appreciate it if you left the posting templates out of the in-character posting forum. Aesthetics have their place, and we believe that that place is in the plot pages and shipping debates and the like. We're sorry if you disagree with this rule, but we feel it's for the best.
4.. No God-Modding. Don’t know what this is? God-Modding is controlling another character without their permission. If you need further explanation, don't hesitate to PM an Administrator.
5. Keep in character. We shouldn’t have to explain this one. Just remember the rules of Potterverse and what we know about it, and you should do just fine. Besides you made the character, so why waste your time going out of it? :]
Face Claim
1. Face Claims must be real people. We like real people, yes?
2. Age appropriate face claims please. There are just certain actors and models and whoever who just cannot pull off the teenager look anymore despite what Hollywood might want you to believe. Though we won't tell you absolutely not unless we really feel you're pushing the bar, it would be nice to start off with age appropriate face claims.
3. Signatures should not be too large so that they stretch the page. If this should occur, the admins may ask you to alter it. We trust your judgment in terms of size and quantity. The admin reserve the right to ask you to subtract from your signature if we deem it necessary.
Admin Powers Only!
1. The only people who have the authority to kill characters are the admins. So, with that being said, unless you have permission, please don’t do it.
2. Special abilities may not be delegated by the members. Your character may not be a vampire, metamorphmagus, werewolf or the like unless it is canon or an administrator has granted you permission. [If you are granted permission, state by whom in the application.]
General
1. Please use common sense during your stay here on Don’t Bury Your Eyes. Common Sense is quite amazing. You'll come to love it. Promise.
2. R-E-S-P-E-C-T : I respect you, you respect me. If you happen to respect other members, they'll respect you. The Admin Team will take appropriate action with those who fail to show publicly any violations.
3. Spam is reserved for the OOC [out-of-character] threads. We realize it's a delicious food product, but those kinds of food products are best left in out-of-character.
4. Drama. Don’t make it or create it. It just doesn’t fly. If you have serious issues with other members on this site, PM an admin and we will address it as soon as we can. We don’t want it, we don’t need it, we won’t tolerate it.
Ripping
Ripping of any nature shall not be tolerated. Should you take from an application that does not originally belong to you, a post, plot page, threading layout, etc, the Administrators will not hesitate to take matters in their own hands. If you can prove that it is a careless error, then you will be asked to fix it and that is all. However should proof arise that it was done maliciously, appropriate actions will be taken. Plagiarism is a mortal sin amongst all writers, and thus will be treated as such.
C-Box
1. Don’t spam.
2. Drama. “Refer to General Rule 4”
3. Please state your name in the name portion of the form.
4. Basically just follow General Rule 1. Common Sense typically covers everything, you know?
