The sun was shining and there wasn’t a single cloud in sight, the birds were chirping a happy morning tune and people began to emerge from their homes as Tristan walked through the residential district. A crisp morning breeze blew through his dirty blonde hair as he walked down the cobble stone road, hands cupped behind his back he took in the morning sights and sounds. Tristan had only been to Port Royal for a short time, not even a month yet, but so far he was enjoying the drastic change in climate. In Britain they didn’t have sun like in the Caribbean, and the ocean wasn’t as crystal clear, or anywhere near as vividly blue, more of a dull blue almost black color. Even the air was different, fresher, and fruitier almost; Tristan had a feeling that he wasn’t going to want to leave the Port Royal, or the Caribbean for that matter.
He tipped his hat to a few women that walked by and uttered a hello in greeting. The smiled and waved back and went about their daily business. Tristan was on his way from his own residence, soon to start work down at the docks. There had been whispers about some of the larger ships, such as The Infinity, setting sail in search of Pirates, a certain Pirate actually, a Jack Sparrow. Tristan had heard the tales of Pirates (much to his father’s dismay) but didn’t really know they truly existed until he came to Port Royal and was told of the many different tales. Fantasy character or not, they were interesting, but Tristan couldn’t understand their reasoning really and the complete gull that they had to do some of the things they did, especially this Jack Sparrow chap. He had done some right weird and appalling things. Tristan would be more then happy to lend a helping hand in capturing this Jack Sparrow and putting an end to Piracy in the Caribbean.

Gemma sighed as she walked along, she wasn't about to stop, the Royal Navy couldn't stop her from taking a lovely stroll, even though her clothes looked out of place and she caried a sword at her waist she wasn't about to turn around and head back for the docks. Port Royal felt so swanky to Gem compared to Tortuga, then again, every town did. Still wearing her leath pants and corset, her white and red blouse lifted lightly off of her skin in the light, warm breeze. She didn't have anything against her name, she hadn't commited any real pirating crimes.
Continuing her walk, she hadn't been looking in front of her. Taylor had drifted off to the white sandy beach, Jack had gone to the tavern and Gem had decided to look around. She felt a bit odd, walking in Port Royal, it was afterall the place she had supposed to land in, so many years ago. Not watching where she was going, almost like usual she walked right into a man. Taking a step back and trying to get her balance, which didn't seem to happen she hit the ground harder than she had wished for. "Bloody Hell" she said, a bit too loud and looked to see the form of the man. He seemed young, bt very well handsome.

Having a gun aimed at her wasn't her greatest time to shine. Because it had happened once to often. From pirates to drunken folk in Tortuga, she wasn't to pleased to see the gun. Hand immedietly went to her sword on her belt, it was an instant reaction. She hadn't drawn it completely but had it ready to come out. Seeing him in shock she sighed. Her pants were now going to be dusty and her hair was out of place. Generally, Gem wouldn't have minded, but she did want to look good for the Port Royalians.
Gem didn't want to trust him enough to take his hand, but then again, she was a Pirate. She didn't trust. Taking his hand she pulled herself up with his help. Usually, she would have pulled herself up from her knees, but, for some reason. She didnt. That was when she clued into the fact that his dress was much different from any normal Port Royal inhabitant. He was dressed in his Red Coat. She cringed at it slightly. Had placed catiously on her sword hilt. "Don't think about it" she said slowly, he complimented her, her cheeks flushed but with her free hand she pushed her curls back, and dusted off her pants. "Im very fine Sir" she was itching to say something but knew best not too. She wouldn't unless he did. She knew she didn't want trouble just yet.

The young Navy officer’s eyes went to the hilt of Gemma’s sword, he two was ready to draw his weapon if he saw fit. The little wheels began to turn in his head, a woman, dressed in leather as compared to a dress like any of the other woman in Port Royal, and she was carrying a sword. There certainly wasn’t any woman in Port Royal like her. She’s a Pirate. He said to himself, completely dumbstruck, the woman before him, as beautiful as she appeared to be was what he considered to be the scum of the earth.
He too put his hand on the hilt of his sword, ready to draw it at a moments notice. He didn’t know what to say, he glanced around quickly, thankfully there weren’t too many people in the close vicinity so no one would be in danger if the two did draw swords and have a duel. Tristan considered himself to be quite the swordsman, seeing as his father began to teach him the proper terms and positions when he was only six years old (his father wanted to start his sons training at five but his wife forbid it for another year).

Gemma eyed where his hand had landed, she knew he noticed now. He had his hand placed on his hilt, as well as she had her hand on hers. Pulling her sword out quickly, the silver glinting in the bright sun of the day. She held it out in front of her, pointed towards him. She had been waiting for something good to happen, hopefully she would land herself in too much trouble. She heard not much of anything around her, she was glad there weren't many around, incase anyone really did get hurt, Gemma did care from time to time.
She knew Jack would have something to say about the situation later, whether she told him herself or she would need bailing out from a prison, he'd hear of it. she wasn't sure which situation was more promising. shifting her weight lightly, she was ready for anything he gave her. She had watched so many drunken fights, to plenty of sober ones. Gem had been a learner from watching, and then doing. She had learnt at her young age to fight, or else you might not make it out alive.

The moment that Gemma drew her sword Tristan drew his as well. He held it there, in a straight line angled at the woman’s pretty face, their blades weren’t quite touching yet, he wouldn’t be the one to make the first move. “Who are you and what are you doing in Port Royal, Pirate?” Tristan demanded, when he spoke the word Pirate he said it with pure distaste and utter disgust, almost as one would refer to something they found horribly disgusting, like say brussel spouts, or a name of a plague. The young man had no time for Pirates and their silly ideas of “fun”, they thought they lived by a code of honor, but really it was just a few rules that a bunch of thieving men made up to make themselves sound honorable in all the crimes they committed. There was no honor among thieves though, not in Tristan’s eyes.
Tristan locked eyes with the woman, he had to admit he hadn’t heard of many female Pirates, well other then the famous Mary Reade and Anne Bonney who had recently escaped from another British Port. And this girl certainly didn’t quite fit the description of either of them, as she was far too young.

Gem lightly touched the tip of his blade and brought hers lightly down his, listening to the sound it made, she always did love the sound of swords clashing. "Well, for one. You could ask for a name, My name isn't pirate" she paused, she didn't mind giving up her anme, afterall, she was relitively new at actually having a captain she would trust. "Gemma LaRoue" she said with a small smirk on her lips. Gem always loved to sound of her own voice saying her name, afterall, she did have a unique accent, a mixture of english, and french, along with a bit of Tortugian thrown in.
Her eyes were locked on his. She knew if she looked away it would all be gone, totally. She would lose horribly and he would win. She was not about to lose to a man who ranked with the Royal Navy. She kept her breathing regular, the only fault with fighting, was your breathing would become heavier, and wearing a corset, it wasn't the funnest thing in the world.

“A bit over confident?” </b>Tristan asked as he took another step to the right, again clashing swords with Gemma, this time he did a high right swing, then a low left, then a middle right then stood there again, swords raised together, each others tip pointing at their faces. “Tristan Smith, at your service.” He said as a small grin began to tug at the corner of his mouth. The blood was pumping through his body madly, he could hear it racing through his ears, the steady thump thump, thump thump. He kept his beating slow and steady, just like he had been taught. Wouldn’t his father be proud of his son now, about to engage in a duel with a Pirate, a female Pirate no less. “Now will you kindly answer my question so that we may get this duel underway and I can arrest you?”

Tristan lunged forward, sword tip aimed at Gemma’s throat. “Well they wouldn’t be quite so unruly if you were not a pirate Miss Laroue.” Tristan replied as he took a few quick steps to the right, bring his sword down from above aimed at the young woman’s right shoulder, she blocked and they were now in a full out duel, their swords clanged together loudly. It was sweet music to Tristan’s ears, here he was fighting a pirate, a pirate that he was going to capture and put in prison, perhaps he would get an increase in rank for it? The metallic clanging echoed through the empty street, Tristan was so very grateful that there were no innocent bystanders about, because that could bring the fight to a whole new level, giving the pirate some leverage if she so chose. The navy officer did a spin, adding momentum to his sword and it clashed with Gemma’s loudly.

Gemma clashed her sword hard against his, she knew fair well that she would probobly end up in a cell in the barracks. It was quite true though, she knew if she had been any other woman, if he had pointed the gun at her, he would have been guilty and offered her to do something, or rather, something of the like. Clashing agaisnt his sword from up high, she took a step forward and held her sword to his throat. "Well, Tristan" she said his name coldly. "It was quite nice to meet you, now you can give up now" she brought her sword close, and then spun, hair fanning out behind her. clashing against his sword and switching to her other hand. "Or we can continue this little game"
