Citizenship/Criminal Record: Dual Australian/ American citizenship. Pyro has been in trouble with the cops several times. . .mostly for burning or blowing stuff up.
General Appearance: John has short spiked blonde hair and blue eyes. He is slender with no tattoos or piercing. There are a few burn scars on his hands that he does not talk about.
Personality: John comes off as cocky and arrogant. He usually pushes away anyone that tries to get close to him. The only person to actually invade his personal bubble and survive is Celia. Many say that his cold countenance is a defense mechanism that comes from having a very dysfunctional family. He never talks about his family; according to him he doesn’t have one. . .not a biological one anyways. Pyro also has problems with authoritative figures such as the police or teachers.
Powers: Pyro has the psionic ability to manipulate fire, he can not however generate fire. He controls the size, and intensity of his flames. He can make his fire have high enough solidity to achieve extra force, and make his fire so intense that bullets melt before they hit him. Pyro can also mold his flames into fiery creatures. His creatures do not however have minds of there own and diminish as soon as he takes his attention from them. In order to control flames they must be within a 100 yard radius of Pyro, and in his sight. He is invulnerable to fire under his mental control but if he is to take his attention from it, he can be badly burned. On two occasions Pyro has been known to fly or hover by propelling himself with fire.
Weaknesses: Pyro’s human. His personal feelings such as fears can effect his concentration which effects his powers. Pyro, although able to control any fire within his vicinity, is unable to generate and project fire himself, without the means of flamethrowers. He can be harmed by any fire that he does not mentally control.
Power Potential: It is estimated that as John grows, his powers will grow too, not just stagnate like some other mutants. He would be able to control the size, strength and intensity (even the temperature) of the flames that he manipulates, and even gain such fine control that he would be able to be remain undamaged even if he was surrounded by flames. He may even at some point be able to wear flames like a skin tight suit of armour, without letting it burn him.
History: Pyro was born and raised in Australia. His powers emerged at puberty, but since he could not think of a way to use them for profit, for years he did not use them except in emergencies. For a time, Pyro drifted from job to job around the South Seas. Under circumstances that have yet to be revealed, Pyro met the mutant called Mystique, who learned of his mutant powers. As a result, Pyro joined her new version of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
One day, he went into the local grocery store to buy cigarettes. While being waited on, his attention was drawn to a cashier whose body was tense. It wasn’t the irate customer or the raven haired cashier that was holding back the punches she wanted to throw that caught John’s attention. It was that every drink bottle was shaking. He noticed the water inside the cashier’s bottle had actual melted through the plastic bottle and was sliding towards the woman’s groceries. After the irate customer left, the girl clocked out for ten. It was then that he chose to introduce himself, but as Pyro. The girl was Celia “Tsunami” Verona.
The two quickly hit it off. Celia asked John to be her roommate. After agreeing, the two lived together for three years with no real problems. When Celia moved out, John was devastated to learn she was moving into the mansion. He blames Celia’s move on a few of Xavier’s Institute’s residents.
Other: Pyro prefers his mutant name over his birth name. He has an unusual friendship with Celia. No one has made the connection of her tattoo and his nickname for her. He also is a writer.
Sample RP: John followed the girl named Celia. She mumbled to the other bookkeeper that she was taking her thirty. When he went to argue, John heard the words “Kiss my ass”. He watched as she stalked outside. Leaning against the wall, she searched her pockets frantically for a lighter.
This was the perfect opportunity. John walked up and held out his ignited Zippo lighting her cigarette. “Need a light?”
Smiling, Celia took a long drag off her clove and closed her eyes. “Not anymore. Thanks.” she says allowing the smoke to slip from her lips.
“No problem, Mate. My name’s John Allerdyce, but you may call me Pyro.”
Celia’s eyes snapped to him. A sly smirk crossed her face. “Really, now? My name is Celia ‘Tsunami’ Verona.”
John smirks. With just those introductions, the two knew a lot about each other.
“So what ya doin’ tonight?” she asks.
“Nothing, why?” John arched an eyebrow.
“I got invited to this underground party. Our kind only. Interested?”

I'd suggest that he can extend the range, size and heat of the flames he controls, as a start. He might also learn how to generate flames on his own, either with or without losing his immunity to his flames, that would be your choice since this is AU.
