The ride hadn't been too long and it had been full of the taxi-drivers chatter as expected. Once they arrived to the gates, he stopped and held back his hand to accept the money Azumi held out. And a couple of moments after, the taxi was driving off after having dropped her and Daniel off.
"Alright, just follow me." She said to Daniel with a friendly smile before walking up to the gates and putting in the code to open it.
<Professor, you probably know this already but we've got a new arrival. I'm guessing it's okay to bring him to the office?> She thoughts, concentrating on the naked scalped headmaster hearing her.
<He seems all jittery and such. It's kind of cute in a 'first day to school' kind of way.> She thought with a grin.
"And, like I said, first stop will be to the Professor." She said to Daniel as she led the way to the building, into it, then towards the Headmaster's office before pausing at the doors.

<Certainly Azumi. Bring him right in.> The Professor's mental voice replied with the same clarity as if he were sitting in the same room. His presence in Azumi's mind was barely perceptible, aa sign of the marked restraint the world's most powerful telepath showed in his dealings with the minds of others.
His mental feelers branched out for a moment to take in a brief impression of the young man, little more than a psionic glance at the surface of his mind, not deep enough to read any actual thoughts. He would wait for the young man to be standing in front of him before gaining a deeper impression, and would do so without his mutant gift.
Charles Xavier sat back behind the spacious desk in his office and steepled his hands as he waited for the two young mutants to reach his office. Meeting a new mutant was one of the most rewarding experiences in his chosen lifestyle, and the possibility of introducing another person to his vision of the future one of the most exciting.
"Come in please." The Professor called out in a mellow, cultured tone of voice, using his vocal chords rather than psionics. There was no need to unsettle their new arrival any more than the fact that Xavier knew they were there without knocking would.

Daniel had seen a lot of big buildings, I mean he did live in New York after all. But this place was definitely impressive. Shifting in awkward nervous tension he looked about the schools interior when she brought him inside. Wow, he would have commented on it if he weren't so twitchy. At the moment it was all he could do just to follow her wherever they were going.
The walk to this Professor guys room, office, whatever you wanted to call it, wasn't too bad either. Whatever was making him nervous, either the fact that he was engaging in a lot of talking, or that he was here, he wished it would take a flying leap. Or at least back off a bit so that he wasn't quite as nervous.
Whether or not his newest companion had knocked he didn't know. But the voice from inside the room they were at sounded pleasant enough. Just enough for him to relax a hair. Well...here went nothing he supposed. They'd been asked to come in, and shockingly enough he made the first move.
Once the door was open he looked to Azumi, and went in. His eyes went to where the other was. Well he definitely looked like he could run this place. Probably with ease too. He stayed standing, a bit aways actually, nervous about actually approaching. Man if he had a penny for all the awkward, or anxious, situations he'd been in he'd be a millionaire by now.

Professor Xavier gave the two young people entering his office a polite smile, that had a somewhat paternal touch. "Thank you Azumi." He gave the young woman a brief nod of thanks, his small pleasant smile keeping it from sounding like a dismissal. "Please, come in and make yourself comfortable." A wave of one hand indicated the comfortable chairs on the other side of his desk and encompassed both of them.
Turning his attention specifically to Daniel his expression warmed slightly more. He had had so many young people standing in front of him like that that it awakened a wash of pleasant memories. Not one to be slowed down by nostalgia though, the Professor spoke up in a cultured, pleasant tone of voice. "Good afternoon, my name is Charles Xavier, welcome to my school. Please excuse me for not getting up." To emphasize that the Professor's left hand patted the handle of the wheelchair he was sitting in. "Welcome to the Xavier Institute. I'm sure Azumi has already told you a bit of what we do here, there is no need to be nervous."

Managing a small, uncertain half smile, he edged forward and into a seat. Sitting wasn't necessarily a comforting thing. It just gave him a small bit of 'oh crap I can't run as quickly sitting'. Paranoid? Maybe a little. But when you lived the life he had, anything was bound to be that way. It was only by sheer determination that he was sitting here and making any concious effort to restrain himself from leaving.
"She's ah...told me a little." He managed, trying not to sound nervous. His gaze, more out of habit than anything, was everywhere. He was taking in the office's layout, the things in it. For a moment he seemed very distracted before his gaze flickered, and stayed, at his lap. He couldn't help but wonder if he'd made the right choice in coming here. He just didn't blend in well with others.
With a small sigh he managed to pull his gaze back up, brown eyes looking directly into the others for a mere second. He'd have to, more than likely, keep his apartment open. His...profession...might not be allowed within this school. Not that it was a problem. He'd rather not do that here anyway. And he never did walk away hurt, so everything would be fine.
Taking a calming breath in he managed a tiny, timid, smile. "Merci, and non, not a problem." He hadn't expected the other to even stand, let alone apologize for it. Another shining example of his less than admirable manners. Hopefully that wasn't expected here because, frankly, he wasn't going to be able to reciprocate any niceties.

She smiled a bit at the Professor's answer earlier but as she had already been smiling time to time it probably hadn't seemed any different to Daniel.
The door to the Headmaster's Office opened before Azumi could even knock on it but she was used to that. As she couldn't see Daniel's expression, she couldn't tell what his reaction had been or if he had noticed that the door had opened on its own. Well, not on its own, but without having been physically touched.
She waited until she heard his footsteps enter the room before following in herself, nodding to the bald man who was probably sitting behind the desk in greeting. As the man thanked her, Azumi shook her head with her cheeks tinting somewhat red.
"No need to thank me, Professor.... I'm going to go get cleaned up and everything but if you need me, I'm up for it." She told them man.

"No need to thank me, Professor.... I'm going to go get cleaned up and everything but if you need me, I'm up for it." She told them man. "As you like Azumi. You are welcome to stay though, perhaps our friend would find the presence of someone he is a little more familiar with comforting." Xavier raised an eyebrow in question to Daniel, inviting him to express his opinion on the matter.
"She's ah...told me a little." The young man seemed uncfortable. Even if his voice didn't carry the full extent of his nervousness, the fact that his eyes roamed everywhere and then he dropped his gaze to his lap betrayed the fact that he wasn't comfortable here. Xavier took it in stride without comment, he had dealt with enough mutants to know that social adjustment was one of the primary problems, particularly with young mutants. Hopüefully he would be able to reassure the young man of the good intentions and benefits of joining them at the Institute.
"Then allow me to perhaps explain a little more. But first, I believe I didn't catch your name?" There was no reproach in Xavier's voice as he pointed out the oversight, he was simply pointing it out with a curious tilt of his eyebrows. Introductions where the first step to creating a proper interpersonal relationship, something Xavier was keen to achieve.

"Daniel." He murmured in response, his gaze shifting upwards to meet Xavier's. "Daniel LePree." This was going to be a long day. He could almost imagine spending his morning eating cereal, or maybe making pancakes and eggs. Sausage too. As it was he had only grabbed cereal and toast and gone for a walk. A walk that had ended up in him being discovered, and overall in here.
Not that this wasn't a bad thing, as of yet. So far things were, actually, mostly going smoothly. He might learn a few things, or he might not. Either way he'd get a little more knowledge about those around him right? Well whatever happened he'd be able to get out of it. For now he really needed to just calm down, relax and stop being so nervous. These people really didn't need him being suspicious of them, nor did he want them to suspect him.
He forced himself to relax and keep the others gaze a little more. No need to be all hostile acting either. Nothing he'd seen so far really gave him the right to be acting this way at all. And until he started to feel threatened, he might as well get along with them. Talk, get a tour or whatever, and then figure out what he wanted to do. There really wasn't a bad half to this deal at all.
