DIT project: Throttle Body Cleaning
Subject: edwin's WiSE
Engine: 4G15P (Siemens-VDO)

Check the details here. Step-by-step information is given.

Idling speed adaptation:
1. Reset the ECU by removing the 20A fuse labeled "ECI" for a while.
2. Start the car, switch off all lights, a/c, HU.
3. idle the engine for 15 minutes or until the idling speed falls back to 800 - 900 rpm.
4. off the engine.
5. turn the key to ON position for 30 sec.
6. OFF the ignition switch.
7. ignite the engine, the idling speed should be at the normal rpm range in a short while.

Might experience higher idling speed for a day or two, depends on the mileage, especially at the moment the car is just stopped.

Hey Drex, why need to off and on and off and on so many times?

4. off the engine
5. turn the key to On position
6. OFF the ignition switch
7. ignite the engine, the idling speed should be at the normal rpm range in a short while.

so if like this any ECU mapping will be all gone?

What about carb cars? like 4G13p...is it the same? just without ECU

4. off the engine
5. turn the key to ON position for 30 sec
6. OFF the ignition switch
7. ignite the engine, the idling speed should be at the normal rpm range in a short while.

first OFF is to stop the engine.
then ON + OFF is to allow the TPS to remember it's position.
the last ON then IGN is to start the engine.

TPS - Throttle Position Sensor. It's inside the black box on the thrttle body. ECU needs its signal to know where the throttle is (how many % opening).

Proton carb no ECU...very "direct" respond equipement, all mechanical based.

If no problem, dun ichy hand open and service it.

If got also either auto choke jam, FICD or Idling tuning only...all can be done by hand easily.

If you are good enough, even A/F also can tune by hand no need put a O2 machine to get the reading...
