Disused arena becomes a hotspot for illicit love games

KUALA TERENGGANU: While big sporting events are on hold as the authorities argue over who should pay how much for the repairs to the Sultan Mizan Stadium, young couples have been using the unused arena for more romantic sports.
But that too will now be suspended as the religious snoop squad has caught up with the latest hotspot for khalwat.
The RM300mil stadium, an iconic sporting avenue near Gong Badak, was closed indefinitely after the roof of the spanking new arena collapsed on June 2.
Apart from the occasional track events, the once brightly-lit stadium was to all purposes disused.
However, with no danger of any spectators or the ever-diligent spying eyes of the religious police, lovers in the state have found it an excellent site for their rendezvous.

TAIPEI - A 55-YEAR-OLD Taiwanese man tricked up to 20 women into having sex with him in an elaborate s.cam where he posed as both a handsome young man and that man's ailing father, local media said on Monday.
Hsu Shian-ming, who was arrested Saturday, allegedly posted photos of a youthful male model online, claiming to be that person, and attracted numerous calls from women interested in romantic liaisons, the China Post reported.
Hsu would then use the telephone conversations to tell his victims he had a father whose medical condition required constant sex to stay alive, sweet-talking them into doing what was necessary to save him, it said.
The women would then meet up with the 'father", also Hsu, waiting for them at various hotels in Taipei, according to the report.

For various reasons, some get to try more cars than the others. But there is one Holy Grail we're all dying to reach and that is the speed rocket 2006 Bugatti Veyron, a technological miracle engineered by Volkswagen.
Little wonder that our jaws hit the floor when we saw this video footage of a man accidentally driving the world's most expensive street-legal car into the shallow waters of a marsh.
A Texan driver was in the Bugatti Veyron - one of the reportedly 15 in the US - and claimed that a killer pelican had swooped too low and caused him to swerve into the saltwaters, according to reports.
According to the student who filmed the footage, the Bugatti was travelling at the speed limit whem it veered off and temporarily created a wall of water.

BOGOTA - A GROUP of young Colombian student chefs have unveiled a new dessert made from passion fruit and Viagra, claiming it had afrodisiac effects on everybody who has tried it.
'We got the idea four months ago when we were dealing with a nutrition project for older people,' Mr Juan Sebastian Gomez said at an international gastronomy fair on Thursday.
'It occurred to us that we could use passion fruit, with all its connotations.. and Viagra, and we came up with this dessert,' added Mr Gomez, who along with his three colleagues is studying the culinary arts at a national college. Mr Gomez said the new dessert was tried on a group of volunteers.

An immigrant convicted of the horrific killing of a 17-month-old baby has been given £4,500 by the Government as a 'bribe' to leave the country.
Malaysian Agnes Wong, 29, was jailed for five years in 2008 for the brutal manslaughter of a toddler she was supposed to be child-minding.
She was let out of prison in July this year, and two weeks ago was put on a plane at Heathrow and sent to Malaysia with a 'voucher' worth £4,500 to spend when she got there.
Wong was jailed after a court heard how she had swung the boy, Hugo Wang, by his ankles and smashed his head. He died of brain injuries.
Wong's payment has sparked disbelief and outrage, coming just days after the Prime Minister said he understood the public's mounting concerns over immigration.

AMSTERDAM - THE Dutch government has approved a bill to impose a tax on drivers for every kilometre they are on the road, which it says will reduce traffic jams, fatal accidents and carbon emissions.
Beginning in 2012, drivers of an average passenger car will pay 0.03 euros per 1 kilometre (7 US cents per mile). But annual road taxes and purchase tax for new cars will be abolished, reducing the cost of a new car by 25 per cent.
The government says nearly six out of 10 drivers will benefit under the system, which shifts the tax burden to people who drive the most and at peak hours. Congestion is expected to be halved and carbon emissions cut 10 per cent.
Friday's decision said the tax will increase every year until 2018, and drivers of larger cars will pay more. -- AP

A woman has lost an appeal against an order banning her from making loud noises during sexual activity.

Caroline Cartwright, 48, claims that she is unable to stop the loud shouting and screaming she makes during lovemaking with her husband Steve.
After neighbours, the local postman and a woman taking her child to school complained about the noise, the Cartwrights were given a noise abatement notice.
However, when Mrs Cartwright was convicted of breaching the notice, magistrates made her subject of an anti-social behaviour order as well.
She appealed against her conviction for breaching the noise abatement notice and the making of the Asbo, which bans the couple from ''shouting, screaming or vocalisation at such a level as to be a statutory nuisance''.

A STUDY conducted in the United States showed that women with big breasts are not necessarily less intelligent than those who are less endowed.
Quoting a Singapore newspaper article, Sin Chew Daily said women with bigger breasts were found to be smarter instead.
It said the study was conducted in Chicago to find out whether the size of a woman’s bust affected her brain power.
The study, involving 1,200 women, was conducted by a female researcher. The subjects were divided into five groups, from extra small to extra big.
The report said it was possible such women were smarter due to the higher level of female hormones that could result in better development in the brain.

London: Blokes with beer bellies can relax. A new survey has revealed that women find manly men complete with hairy chests, messy hair and a beer belly.
The study, which was carried out by Lion Bar ice cream, found that eight out of 10 females no longer go for the tall, slim, feminine look.
Instead they prefer “real men” like James Bond actor Daniel Craig, reports The Daily Express .
The study of more than 5,000 women also found that only one in five preferred a metrosexual man.
In further good news for males, the study found 10 per cent liked the smell of beer on their men. One in 10 did not mind their partners having “moobs”, the nickname for “man boobs”, and a fifth found “a bit of body odour” appealing.
However, the biggest turn-offs were men straightening their hair, drinking koktails by the pool, wearing sarongs and sunbathing all day on holiday.

A WOMAN was forced to run naked down a street in Singapore to get away from her husband, who had turned violent when he found her sending text messages to a boyfriend, Sin Chew Daily reported.
The husband, 36, chased the 35-year-old Chinese national after pushing her out of the bathroom when she was taking a bath on Saturday.
She was rescued by passers-by, who provided her with newspapers and rubbish bags to cover herself.

KUCHING: Three bright students were denied places in university matriculation programmes because they are of mixed parentage.
Awang Adrian Awang Kasumar scored 10As in last year’s SPM and was active in school activities.
Although his father is a Malay, Awang Adrian does not enjoy bumiputra status because his mother is a Chinese convert.
Another SPM top scorer, Marina Undau (9As), also had her matriculation programme application rejected by the Education Ministry because she is a product of mixed parentage.
Marina, from Sri Aman, has an Iban father and Chinese mother.
Awang Salleh said his son’s application for the matriculation programme was rejected four months ago, and that the Public Complaints Bureau of the Prime Minister’s Department had given the reason that Awang Adrian did not have a bumiputra status.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian lasses are an easy lot to charm. They are easily smitten by sweet words and gifts, making them an easy target for drug-trafficking syndicates looking for mules.
This is the view of Deputy Foreign Minister A. Kohilan Pillay, who said young Malaysian girls, some fresh graduates, were easily conned by men from the syndicates to travel abroad with a package.
“Some of the girls meet the men abroad and some meet them in Malaysia.
“There have been cases where girls just knew the men for a day and were willing to travel around with a bag, not knowing the contents,” he said at the launch of the Wanita MCA women and children’s aid and public complaints bureau in Kepong yesterday.

KUALA TERENGGANU: Smelly body odour, humdrum sex and boring pyjamas are behind the high divorce rate in the state and the government is scrambling to find ways to improve sexual relations, especially for newly wed couples.
Top on its list of proposals is to invite cosmetic firms to introduce exotic and sensuous fragrances which can arouse sexual ardour.
State Religious and Information committee deputy chairman Muhammad Ramli Nuh believes that this effort could slow the divorce rate among young couples.
He told The Star Sunday that at least three in every ten marriages registered in the state ended in divorce.
He added that separations were now common among couples aged between 25 and 30 years.
