Some info from from Wiki & some website

"The 4B11T is the first engine in the Lancer Evolutionseries that uses a die-cast aluminium cylinder block versus the cast-iron block used in the previous turbocharged 4G63 engine that powered all previous models. The engine weight has been reduced by 12 kg (26 lb) compared to the 4G63, even with the addition of a timing chain instead of a belt and MIVEC continuous variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust camshafts (the 4G63 had MIVEC valve timing & lift switching type on the intake only). A revised turbocharger offers up to 20-percent quicker response at lower engine speeds compared to previous 4G63.

The 4B11T offers a broader torque curve, producing more torque than the 4G63 at all engine speeds, helped by the engine's square bore and stroke design (both measure 86.0 mm). Redline starts at 7,000 rpm, with a fuel cutout at 7,600 rpm to protect the engine.[6]

A semi-closed deck structure, an integrated ladder frame and four-bolt main bearing caps contribute to engine strength, durability and lower NVH levels. Unlike the 4G63, the 4B11T does not use a balancer shaft. The semi-floating pistons of the 4G63 have been replaced with a fully floating pistons for the 4B11T.

Aluminium is also used for the timing chain case and cylinder head cover. The engine features an electronically controlled throttle, an isometric short port aluminium intake manifold and the stainless steel exhaust manifold is positioned at the rear of the engine. The use of a direct-acting valvetrain eliminates the need of the roller rocker arm configuration previously used in the 4G63.

The 4B11T features built-up hollow camshafts and its valve stem seals are integrated with the spring seats. The internal components of the 4B11T engine have been reinforced to withstand high levels of boost."

What is Semi-Floating and Full-Floating ?

- A SEMIFLOATING pin is locked to the connecting rod by a screw or by friction. The pin pivots freely in the piston pin bosses.

- The FULL-FLOATING piston pin pivots freely in the connecting rod and piston pin bosses. The outer ends of the piston pins are fitted with lock rings to keep the pin from sliding out and contacting the cylinder walls

i would take a BMW5 series 3.0 recond .. my bro in-laws...got it damn good condition..with 19inch rim.. pearl white , sun-roof..

izso - August 22, 2008 05:25 AM (GMT)
for 300k I'd like the new Audi A4T or the Volvo S4T and body kit it out with nice rims. But of course the Evo would kick its ass on a track la. But I'd buy a Civic type-r to give it a run for its money.

Tiff Needle found out that the Evo can't do handbrake turns properly cuz it confuses the gearbox computers and it cuts out the power after making the turn. (See latest Fifth gear ep 2)

But Jeremy Clarkson gave it quite high praise saying it was the best car he has ever driven (before he drove the Skyline la)

durkheim - August 22, 2008 05:53 AM (GMT)
Never driven this version before. But the ride for the GT 2.0 version is extremely harsh and noisy. Handling is ok but performance nothing to shout about. I guessed the Evo is worse for ride quality. Anyway, not a car for Ah Pek driver like me. For RM315K, I might as well get the 350Z. More comfortable ride and 'yau ying' if sports performance is what I am looking for. Furthermore, can prevent the in-laws ka ka cau cau too.

ahboy - August 22, 2008 02:41 PM (GMT)
nice car and much more powerful, keng.

Sky - August 22, 2008 04:46 PM (GMT)
if this kinda price, i buy 1 small condo and slight older WRX.. :tb: :tb:

Tohsan - August 22, 2008 08:41 PM (GMT)
saw already the test drive by Best Motoring crew for the Evo X, not really impressive, the new Sti beat the sh1t out of this Evo X. For RM315k I don't think is worth it. I rather spend RM200k on a Civic type R,lighter, faster and less bulky.

durkheim - August 23, 2008 01:01 AM (GMT)
This Evo got lockford losgate woh. That is why so expensive.

ya, and when Top Gear featured the Evo and Subaru. Thye said the Subaru is softer and the Evo is nicer to drive, but Subaru had the faster lap time around their track.

Hartge - August 23, 2008 01:38 PM (GMT)
