x1r or whatever engine lubricants are dangerous if not a total waste of time. Just get a really good engine oil and use that.
Read up on this :
Guide to engine additivesBasically, all engine additives are the same.. they are teflon based and more often than not they will leave behind deposits in the oil sump or wherever that may in the long term damage your engine. Of course, you can say you use engine flush, but I guess its personal preference. I prefer to save the hassle and all that and just use a good synthetic oil which has been researched by the oil manufacturer which spent a good amount of money in research and development of the oil.
THEN I'd add a turbo and a dozen other gadgets for power, fuel consumption and other things.
Anyway, read the article. It's a good read.

well... wat i can say a bout additive is... not necessary... dat is wat my dad told me..
normal engine oil already have sufficient additive inside. so when u put in extra additive... de properties of de oil is changed.. it will behave differently..
heres my dads experience... his datsun 120Y.. put in some additive dat some salesman claimed can improve engine performance n reliability... but not long after dat.. eat engine oil liao.. pistons rings need to be replaced...
then his another car Nissan sunny 130Y... never put any additive b4... n just using normal engine oil... de piston rings after 370,000km(16 years until now) still good... engine still running fine without eating engine oil...
for newer generation of additive i duno lar... technology has improved so much... just something to share wit u guys...

Before you jump the gun to get X1R. It contains high amounts of chlorinated paraffin, if I were you, I would go and research about that particular chemical...
The only engine additive that I would dump into my engine is Lubegard which contains LXE. Read about LXE...

I have use X1R. very good! Dont care so much about wat chemical reaction ler. Dun think too much. If X1R is not good, the USA wont sell it or put to the test. Everyone has thier own likings. U gotta try X1R urself b4 commenting....
drexchan - December 28, 2005 04:49 AM (GMT)
OMG! Chlorinated Paraffin!??!
This stuff is not friendly..
feralee - December 28, 2005 05:11 AM (GMT)
advertisment ma
sure got ppl will buy ^_^
seebeekay - December 28, 2005 09:05 AM (GMT)
i know parafin is for embedding body tissue to be segmented (cut) into a very small piece for microscopic analysis. bt.....for it to be used in an oil additive...erm...i've been using X1R's trasmition treatment for like 2 times oredi. don't feel any difference leh
drexchan - December 28, 2005 10:37 AM (GMT)
not that parafin for fixing lar..

Drex,
Take a look at the the MSDS and you will know what I'm talking about. And seach deeper as there is one research done on all this kind of additive, they have analyse the stuff and broke down the chemical compounds in the stuff and they compared with brands like x1r,slick,tufoil, etc... they are use the same base compound such as CP,ZDDP, etc.. all will do harm to the engine in the long run in a matter of short time. You know chemical yes? So all this base chemical what does it do? They ultimately raise the TAN of the engine oil and turn them acidic. So, I don't have to tell what will the result be in the long run....
And if you dig deeper, its not NASA tech...they are just a consort1um known as NASA..they are NOT NASA themselves and they are not ENDORSED by NASA.
It's just one of those snake oil products that has been invested about couple of million dollars for marketing creating market awarness. Real good products don't need such marketing hype to create volume sales, the product sells by itself.

bro.. yes i am in chemistry field .. haha!
seanlee - September 4, 2006 05:14 PM (GMT)
Sorry to dig up this topic again!!!!
Just share my feedback after use this X1-R
i can feel actually...this product is good for 1 month.....and so on....
i last month when i send my car for servicing...change gasket and others.....the trail mech told me that...how come inside the engine have to many small piece of carbon or some thing like black color thing stick on the wall and other place...
JUSt for you infor..allthe while i using Eneos semi ...which will not harm but good engine oil..
so he told did i add any additive inside my car....then iwas think for long only remember i pour in X1-R....so he said...actually X1-R is good for performance but if use for long.... your piston is the 1st will worn out 1st...
coz the try on MME race .....
so just and advice to you all...if wan to try...use for 1 or 2 months.....then better clean your engine...if not god bless your car..
drexchan - September 4, 2006 05:19 PM (GMT)
told you so..
i still have half a bottle....

bro roller better to pour the fully syntatic engine oil is better then u put X1R.
u will instant feel the different when u use the fully synth engine oil.
my fren try X1R on his auto 1.5 wira.then he end up with engine overhull.
still wanna try??no kidding.
RoLLeR - October 12, 2007 07:40 AM (GMT)

alamdamai1 - December 22, 2009 01:21 AM (GMT)
just to share with everyone...
i've been using Bardahl 1 & 2 oil treatment for my 13 year old Wira workhorse and found it to be a good match if i were to add it into mineral & semi-syn engine oil (apart for Magnetac which i believe do not require any more additive)...
for fully syn, Bardahl has no effect i were to use Mobil 1 & Synt1um 1000 but still give good results if i were to use Helix Ultra..
but now, i'm now trying Tufoil and wow, it is much better than Bardahl where my oil consumption problem has completely stopped!!...
reason i switched to Tufoil was investigate whether it could lower my FC but the results were very marginal, ie. less than 1 - 2%....but my morning start vibration (my carbie choke already 'kong') and oil consumption problem has completely gone which i did not expect for such results....
i'm currenly using fully syn Penzzoil Platinum and as you guys know, this oil will evaporate very fast for old workhorses like mine but with the Tufoil, this problem has been resolved...
morale of the story, experiment with a few products and you will know which is best for your car. :)
