Using the flat screwdriver ok meh? You don't have that er.. caliper erm.. adjustment thingy?

khguan - March 28, 2009 06:40 PM (GMT)
well.. this is the technique used by DIYer as well as those pitstop ppl during track day... fast n easy...

that piston compressor tool is not cheap for DIYer if u just buy that tool to DIY ur own car...

last time i used a G-Clamp and 1 pc of brake pads to push in the piston...

chiewwl - March 29, 2009 02:42 PM (GMT)
and how this brake pad response??

TheNT - March 29, 2009 10:59 PM (GMT)
Im interested into brake discs...
What manufacturer?

khguan - March 30, 2009 07:02 AM (GMT)
huh?? this topic is about teaching ppl how to reaplce the brake pads... not about rotors..

the rotor we have locally are TRW which is the OEM quality for protons.

Tnx and sorry for oftopic.
I know how to change pads but discs i found usefull for me here ;)

tnx again, we have TRW dealer in Croatia for pads so ill check out.

well.. if u want to replace the rotors.. it is just another 2 bolts to remove... after u have dismantled the pads, u will see another 2 bolts on the caliper on the knuckle...

just remove those bolts to remove the caliper.. then u can remvoe the rotor.. ;)

I use to pry those piston before. Its damn difficult and I break the flat screwdriver. I worried though if it break something inside the system too.
Any other method then pry it?

khguan - April 6, 2009 02:29 AM (GMT)
u must use a big and solid screwdriver... obviously your screwdriver wasnt strong enough..

other method would be using a G-clamp pushing the piston in with a brake pad in between the G-clamp n brake piston. This is much safer and easier... but slower la... heheh

i saw the 2-ton jack used to lift the car at brothers for about rm50. Is it reliable?
Sorry off topic

khguan - April 6, 2009 03:03 AM (GMT)
are u sure 2 tonne?? usually 1tonne for such price..

well.. brother stuff usually for normal use only... not for heavy duty...

the jack i used in my DIY is really 2-tonne jack... those workshop use type..
