Now then
I wondered if anybody could offer me some words of wisdom. I recently had a new clutch fitted to my PX and ever since, I have had problems starting it on a morning, taking several kicks to start it and having to rev it quite a lot several times just to make it tick over. When riding, the scooter then just feels like it is fading and when stationary, I can't stand in gear with the clutch in as it just cuts out. This is a bit of a pain in the a*se when stood in stationary traffic or each time I come to a red light, especially as the missus is on the back - her having to jump off in the road so that I can kick start it again (no electric start). It is a friend who sorts the scooters out over here in Jersey, has a workshop and is his second living so I know I'm not been ripped off by a shop (he strips, builds fixes etc all lads vespa / lammies over here and organises ride-outs etc). He thought it may be the ignition, had a look at this as the reading was too high, sorted this but still the cutting-out problem is still there. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions to fix this cheers |

Have you tried lifting the idle screw a bit?

What sort of clutch did you put in.
Seem to remember Nige having problems with Surflex plates. In the end I think he swapped em. |

sorry for the very late response,
i put new clutch plates and as Steve says the same soert of problems as you have/had. the problem with surflex plates is that are slightly too thick. and then when you pull the clutch in there is no room left for the plates to seperate to thus causing the clutch drag. hope this has helped you Jim. |
