Ok reading that last post, i had to laugh. Not because the whole thing was funny, but one line reminded me of a few things that all sort of related.
On the subject of Sinister, what hit be was "no class", which made me think back to a series of ytmnd.com pages all relating to Hugh Laurie's character Greg House on the show House, which were various pictures with the text "House has no class". Then that in turn reminded me of a casting suggestion on imdb a few years back which suggested Hugh for Sinister.
Sinister has no class.
lol

On second though, maybe it's not as funny as I'm making it out to be, but I was laughing at the time.

* Denotes that these characters are more of a middle ground between the two classes. Noted characters absorb assorted energies (Class 4) then discharge them (Class 3), and are in a constant cyclical state.

** Sinister isn't actually a mutant in the comics. I'm not sure how you're playing him here, but from what I've seen thus far, it's pretty parallel to the comics. He's actually a mutate, someone who gains their abilities later in life, as opposed to being born with them. You've even stated in your posts that through genetic tinkering is how you've become som powerful.

QUOTE (Jay Pheth @ Oct 19 2007, 08:33 PM)

Class One:

Shadowcat

I strongly beg to differ... Shadowcat psionically affects not only herself, but those she comes into contact with, at an atomic level. According to all research I've done over the years of playing Kitty, she's classed as alpha/level 4.

You know... as much as I thought differently at first, you're right, she can control that. so, I apologize. Thank you for stating your case. I'll fix that right away.

Heh, thanks. Kitty is my favorite character; I like to make sure she's properly represented. :)

I beg to differ. Iceman is a class 4, as it is clearly stated in the comics. There are very few omega level mutants, and considering that Iceman can NOT exist in any form of water (Check the comics if you disagree with me).

I do happen to know that Vulcan is an Omega level mutant (as stated in the comics), although they are very rare. They include Vulcan, Jean Grey, Mr Immortal, Kid Omega, ect.

Hmmm, I think Gambit should be at least be somewhere between a 2 and a 3 at least. I say this because while yes, exerting a type of energy, he can also absorb all the energy he outputs (which hasn't been tested to a limit yet) back into his body.

I dunno, I may be talking out of my butt, but level two just strikes me as a bit low.

Gabe, remember this is movieverse, not comicverse. I would have to agree with the system already set up here as it makes sense in this particular setting. While it may not be completely accurate it is what the people who have been here have found it to work the best. I have no issue with it.

I'm guessing Mikayla would be a Class One or Two, correct?

Ahh but therein lies the problem. In the movieverse, there is a quote to be considered. Professor X says that Jean is the 'only class 5 mutant he has ever encountered'. which disproves the idea of Iceman being one.

Perhaps that it's possible that he advanced in his powers since Xavier's death?

Aye, its a line that was only true at the time Xavier said it, with the knowledge he had and still only then in his opinion and by whatever means he personally categorised mutants. Best not to get too hung up about it. All the characters here are simply as powerful as their bios describe them to be...and thats it! Feel free to speculate on categorisation (preferably keeping the comics out of this) but that is really all it is, speculation, and everyone's opinion is going to be different, just as Xavier's own is in the very place.

Nothing here really sets anything in stone nor dictates how you have to play your characters, its just an interesting and hopefuly entertaining little exercise in contrast and comparison. Anything more than that tends to see an inevitable descent towards one-upmanship, an unnecessary and pointless pursuit.
