A small and proud city in northern Freyja, home to Frost Elves, Dwarves, Humans, and many other creatures. The blizardly coast is only a day's journey from this city. Few roads exist on the ground's surface; most of the city exists underground, in a network of majestic tunnels. Though still terribly cold, the underground city protects its inhabitants from destructive winds and devastatingly low temperatures. On the surface level are lookout and guard towers, trading posts, a small library, a few market stores and an inn; the Nomadian. In the centre of the surface town is a large building with elegant columns and statues of ice creatures and gargoyles. The entrance is a large stone door with four armed Royal Guards posted outside at all times. These guards permit entrance into the building and open the large door. Inside is a long marble hallway, with more stone columns and massive arches and statues of the deities. At the very end is a statue of the Goddess Kyrja standing in elegant, pastel blue robes, a silver staff about twenty spans high in her left hand, and her right hand extended towards the viewer. At her bare, stone feet is a large base, with another large, open doorway in the centre. Along the hallway stand twenty armed guards on each side, and at the entrance at the base of the great statue stand another four High Guards. One must grant access from these guards by stating their reason for entrance, their intentions within the underground city of Ilystia, and producing any and all physical weaponry. These are recorded on a scroll along with the person’s name. The person is then allowed to descend the winding stone staircase into the depths of Ilystia. The path is lit by torches with magical blue flames, kept burning with a spell. About forty spans below the stairs open up to a great hall: in the centre a great, golden flame burns, lighting up the entire room. Bands often play free concerts here in this great room and peasants and rich alike often dance around the fire. Vendors sell food and beverages and a few merchants might sell some cheap clothing and souvenirs. More large torches line the walls, each one above an open doorway that make the streets. These cavern streets are dug smooth from the solid rock, arching ten spans high and ten wide, large enough to fit two horse-drawn carriages in either direction, and marble sidewalks which lead to stores and markets and mazes of other interconnecting streets. At the top of each tunnel the name of the streets are engraved on golden plates in the Common tongue and, in some areas, the tongue of the Natives of Freyja. The Royal Bank of Freyja is located in the direct East, to the right of the main entrance. One street next to the bank leads to a large inn and pub, the Dwarven Culvert. The Governor’s Manor is north of the entrance, and a temple for the Goddess Kyrja is in the Northeast, down a street and around a few corners. In this temple one can train under some of the Priests and Priestesses in arts such as meditation, healing, and martial arts that focus in swordplay, defense, offence, pressure points, and more. In the Southwest down a few streets is a large marble door, which is surprisingly easy to open and welcoming to all. This building is the Royal Library, full of books on spells, incantations, fighting styles, historical figures, religion, science, and more. Deeper into the library, a door leads to the Governor’s Theatre, where many great plays, balls, and concerts are held, at a price.
