I just raided my first Njerpez camp. There were also two Kotas. I deconstructed one of them and only got some slender tree trunks. I was expecting I get also the furs that are needed to build it.
Did I do something wrong?
Do I never get the furs back if I deconstruct a Kota?
Do I only get back the furs if I build the Kota by myself?

I'd be willing to bet the answer will be "You get furs only when you build it yourself".

This is far more likely an oversight on Sami's part. Unlike wood (which has uniform statistics and is thus a simple object), skins are complex with type, quality and weight. Best guess would be there is no default data in the entry that holds what skin was used to make the section. Maybe the game just automatically removed the zero weight [null] fur.

I was all sad when this happened to me too. I had actually concluded it must have been for balance reasons-- the ability to deconstruct kotas would be so broken, because you can always spawn njerpez just be sleeping outside a civilized area, they always have kotas, and suddenly you have millions of furs available to you...

So eventually I decided this was cool because it meant that I actually had to save up for my own kotas : )
