If you've got two seconds of extra time then click the option that suits you the best. Thanks a bunch. I'm eagerly awaiting the results.

There used to be this game magazine that my brother ordered, and with it we got these demo collection cd's. This was many years ago, back in a version where there still was money involved. Only couple years back I actually got back to it and bought a proper version.

So that falls in: "I read about it on some other forums"-category. Cannibalism lead you here - interesting ... MettienTyvär, I was thinking about having magazine-option also - but then considered it too marginal. Nice to hear your story though. (That game magazine was probably MikroBitti or Pelit-lehti?) ... (Thanks for the early votes so far. This is interesting.) |

I actively searched. I like survival games and after noticing how few there were, decided I should write one. In preparation I played just about every title available at the time. Urw just sort of captured my attention and now (with my goal abandoned) I'm just a strong advocate for games like this.

Back in 2000 I was searching the net for a game like this thought it was neat and played a couple days then lost interest.
Now, coming back 12 years later, it's amazing at how far it has advanced (and that it is still being actively developed.) So yeah just always loved games like this! |

I think it was MikroBitti. We probably still have those demo collections somewhere... should dig them up, there was some quite interesting little games and programs. |

I recall watching a version release "Let's Play" video for another Indie game, Towns, and happened to see quite a few Unreal World "Let's Play" videos on the sidebar....ended up watching quite a few of them, then tracking down the game from there. I've been hooked ever since.

Keep it coming, keep it coming. Let's get some 100 votes here, right?
Rain, so now we know where your extra-ordinary modding skills/ideas/capabilities and enthusiasism originates from. Did you ever actually start coding your game own game even a little bit? |

I found the game demo through MikroBitti too, I think it was around version 2.4
as I remember I was constantly getting killed by wolves and village dogs |

I think RogueBasin was the place. I was searching for a survival roguelike, and URW is exactly the game I was looking for.

Developer on Haven&Hearth forum talked about it, apparently URW is a big inspiration for their own game so I checked it out!
