Sami;
With all my searching, I have found multiple views on what does and does not work for use as bait in traps. Is there any chance you could enlighten us as to what does work, and what doesn't? IE, do fruits/vegetables tend to lure herbivores and omnivores into traps, and does it matter if the fruit/vegetables are spoiled or not? Do only raw meats/fish work for luring carnivores/omnivores? Does roasting, salting, smoking, and drying affect the effectiveness of said baits? Also, does spoilage affect the effectiveness as well? I'm sure many players have pondered this for a long time, or perhaps settled for the first answer stumbled across in a search for the truth. With a definitive answer, I'm sure some capable forum-browser amongst us will put those words over on the Unreal World wiki, which will aid all of the trappers out in the Unreal World's trapper community. Thanks in advance, if you have a chance in your busy schedule to read this request, and even more thanks if you feel at liberty to give us an answer on this one. (I primarily ask this because I've tried over 10 characters now with traps in multiple areas with each one, and have yet to snag anything in a trap, baited or without bait, unless you count the map-zoom glitch that landed me in one of my own pit-traps) |

i've read that spoiled food actually repels predators, it is actually used as a strategy to prevent animals from eating your meat, to drop a spoiled cut on the same square you dropped a stack of fine meat

A quick answer: Fresh raw meat/fish is the ultimate bait. Veggies won't work. Spoiled meat/fish can sometimes work for very hungry animals. |

Hmm, I knew you could start a fire on a tile with wood and destroy the items left on the tile, but I didn't know they contributed to the burning time of the fire....

You can even start fire on pure spoiled food, so it is perfect fuel.

I think its a bug and somewhat of an exploit.
For disposal purposes I would recommend water - just ether throw or move the items into a body of water and its gone. Plus you'd be doing a favor to the fishies! |

Shift D gives you the guilt message.
That's what I was talking about |

So, there is no way to lure herbivores into your loop snares? No tasty turnip, no mouthwatering berries, no aromatic herbs will do the trick for bunnies and fowls? That's a bummer.
Also, I have found out that the spirits don't seem to mind (you still get the message "you feel comfortable") whether your sacrifice for a catch (fish) or a newly killed animal (meat) is spoiled or not, so there is another use for those. |
