Title: Game Maker

Well awhile ago I found a cool big program called Game Maker, its freeware and it is very popular. It involves no coding at all, just lots of time and patience. You can download it here. You can make basic arcade games like Pacman and all those classics or make other kind of games like platformers like Mario. Some guy even made a game just like Doom on it.
Well to let the lynx out of the bag, I have been working on a game myself. it was going to be call Nezjerpez Raid, just like Space Invaders. You use arrows and shoot the Njepez Warrios slowly coming towards you, I also added a power up that made a dog run through all the Njerpez in that line and kill em. Unfortanitly the project did not get far. I got all most of it done. But I could never get the Njerpez to spawn and go back and forth like in Space Invaders and throw spears at me, and the dog thing only went strait and only killed one guy not a whole line. Meh well I so far have gaven up on that project mainly because I did not have the graphics and the code to make the damn enemys do what I want them to do. Also if you do try it, and make a game, make sure you tell us. Also to play the games you DO NOT need Game Maker, they just basicly become YOUR games. Yes that means you are allowed to sell them and all that.
Make sure to tell me and others if you ever make a game using it, mainly a game about The Unreal World :), weee I just had another dumb idea. UrW Food Rush, you run around just like in Pacman but Nejepez warriors chase you, go ahead and use this idea if you like. Thank you, and best wishs if you make a game. Once again downlaod it here :) .

hey, it's a Dutch program! Go us! (I am Dutch)

Is it hard to use the program? I have really NO experience with game design. Well, I sometimes make maps for games like Starcraft, but that's it. Not really game design either.

EDIT: lol, designed by Mark Overmars...

Sounds like a freeware clone of an old program called Click'n'Play, which could be used to create simple windows games. Those things are fun :)

It's not limited to that. Actually, you can do much more complex stuff in Game Maker, if you can cope with the somewhat low framerate you'd get.

It shines in platform and shooter games, yes, but nothing prevents you from building a RPG with it ;)

A couple of examples: i've played some very nice shooters (Helicopter Cacophony 2, Jetz Fusion), one RPG (can't remember its name, however was in a Wild West setting), and the single oddest and addicting game ever... Ore No Ryomi (a Japanese restaurant "simulation" )

Oh, and, btw, i've used Game Maker to lay down the framework for a project of mine... a survival horror game (with survival i mean the URW style, so EAT and SLEEP and DRINK and TRY to keep alive if you can) based on Romero's Zombie series and Matheson's I Am Legend novel. Now paused for lack of time and a good way to make graphics, since i draw like an eyeless sheep on a caffeine high. :(

(oh, btw, first post here, just registered URW and currently downloading 2.80, hi all people! ;) )
