I found a nice island to live on and I was wondering how to get animals onto the island, mainly dogs and cows. If I have a leash on them will they be able to travel with me on a punt?

Also, I'm thinking about building a trap fence on the mainland with deadfall traps. Ideally, how far should I space my traps? And should I build traps on both sides of the fence or will 1 side suffice?

Yes, animals will still follow you on a punt.

The fence should contain gaps every 5-10 tiles with a trap in it. The idea is to provide only one tile the animal can pass through and that tile being deadly. Traps placed along the sides of the fence will score some kills from animals moving up and down the fence looking for a hole, but not near as effectively.
