Title: Super Adventure Challenge (again)

As per this thread, the rules were as follows:

Drik
Demophobia
Winter
Unfortunate Hunting Trip

You must take the first set of stats that show up as having Demophobia (fear of people/crowds).

You are not allowed human interaction beyond attacking or avoiding. You are essentially anti-social.

My additions:

You can loot some gear from father but not his basic clothes, so clokes, hats and gloves are acceptable. Tools, a weapon, water skins, ropes, all ok to take. You should dispose fo the body. The above thread cut him up and burned him like a funeral pyre and pushed his gear in, I hadn't thought of that so I cut him up, dragged him to a marsh and pushed him into a water hole and pushed his gear in after him.

Finally on the human interaction, I figured it cannot be possible to advance your Ritual without seeing a wiseman. So I figured I would adopt the first town I find as my home village. This means I can interact in some minor ways like see the wiseman if they have one, if they don't I am up a creek. Trading is still not allowed, nor is sleeping in any hut that is occupied.

I'm doing the same as above, but with some other additions.

No looting. From anyone. Including Dad.

No Human Interaction. Find a village? Turn around. Find anybody? Run away. Get in a fight? Still try to run away, but combat as necessary.

And lo, doth begin the adventures of Spearchukka Driik.

Here are her stats:

As per the above, first Demophobic random that I found. She's up in the far north and has a mountain range to play with between two tribes.

Thats the stuff I started with, plus the stuff our father was using. Overcome by grief she performed the funeral rites while the Lynx was still around, and while her father was still fully equipped.

Its cold, she's lonely and she has very little food. How long will she survive?

Well, she's still alive, but its touch and go. Had to start the basic adventures to just survive.

After a few frostbites (damn not having an axe is hard) and a few failed tracking/hunting attempts, I finally realised the true difficulty of this playstyle. She fell out of a tree, and got so badly wounded she could no longer stand. Now that the wounds are starting to heal, starvation has set in. I just can't find enough food. Starvation is now at -56%, and unless I hit the freaking jackpot, she's going to die. Breams and Roaches take the worst edge off the hunger, but she hasn't had a full stomach since that fateful day her father died.

Have made 2 Javelins (each took 2 full days!) and gained a fishing rod from the basic adventures, but unless I find something good to kill (and can actually kill the damn thing) she's not going to make it. I doubt it with 0% mobility.

Oh, her rituals are General Sacrifice and Sacrifice for a newly killed animal. Both require giving up something that most likely will prove to be absolutely vital, and thats what I'm stuck on in basic adventures too.

I forgot to mention in the original rules, the basic and advanced courses are a no-no because they provide some basic gear. I'll update my post too.

As I mentioned my first try I died within 13 miserable days. I died after opening a whole to drink, nearly immobile and starving. The two hours it took to get water nearly did me in. Forget the 12 or more tries it took to start a fire. I moved to a new tile and stumbled on a nerj.

Hmm. I think with your rules, you should have started off with the "I want to be a trapper" or whatever. That starts you with the very basic handaxe and shovel. As I suggested in the other thread, "Delete everything you start with except clothes, a knife, handaxe, and shovel. That means drop the 25 stakes, traps, additional axes, food, and anything else not mentioned." Shovels can't be made, and it is literally impossible to make a wall with a stone axe. With a handaxe it takes about 8 hours, not to mention the time it takes to chop down one tree (2+- hours) and carve it into a log (about 1-1.5 hours).

I'm not so sure.

I've managed so far with a hand axe and a self made stone axe. Yes its slow but doable. I finished a 2 by 2 house within about a month of starting, but I got lucky with food. Skill improvement cuts down the time dramatically. With a hand axe I can cut down and log 5 trees in a day.

The lack of a shovel isn't a game breaker since you can make your own bow and hunt to stay alive. The storage of food becomes an issue which can be resolved by kill nerj or people for the shovel. Or limited trading options may have to be allowed. My best success character started without a shovel and traded for one. My current challenge character doesn't have one yet and spoiled roasted food is an issue. Dried food is kicking in though.

Ok, now this is fun.

I'm going to stick to the demophobic rules as described above with the unfortunate hunting trip in winter. I will post back soon to tell the tale oh "woe"? or fortune?

Ok, so no looting dad, demophobic with first stats, unreal world (no quests), winter, unfortunate trip

She'll never be able to complete the basic adventures anyway, as some of the missions require human contact.

Still, basically relying on it to get a Handaxe and Shovel (if I can get that far), and she'll die soon (probably tonight) anyways.

Desperate, Spearc prayed to the gods Fo and Rum to guide her to safety. Crying herself to sleep so she wouldn't hear her stomach rumbling, she dreamt of one thing. South.

The next morning she awoke, somewhat invigorated, and embarked upon what she thought was her last journey. A last ditch attempt at survival. She crawled south, through bracken and bramble, finally getting stuck in a stubborn prickly shrub. Giving up, she rolled onto her back and prepared for the end. Her vision narrowed and she saw a bright red light at the end of the tunnel.

Wait a minute, the lights supposed to be white, not red! Spearc opened her eyes and dangling right in front of her face was a ripe red Cranberry. Overcome with hunger she stuffed it in her face, before looking around. The low lying bog was covered in bushes, hanging low with a bounty of fruit. Forcing herself to go on, she moved from bush to bush collecting as many berries as she possibly could. Soon she was exhausted, and collapsed on the ground with a big grin and berry stains all over her.

The days passed as Spearc consumed all the berries she could find, and soon she was able to stand. After many throws, she was finally accurate with her javelins to nab both a Badger and a Squirrel (each took a full day of throwing crap and chasing em :P). Soon she had a new pair of mittens to cover her frostbitten hands.

Then, moving through the bog she spotted a Stag shaped figure in the distance. Zooming in she cast her javelin with a strong arm and steady eye and lodged it straight in the Stags flank, causing a massive wound that started pumping blood almost instantly. However it was still able to flee, and she followed the trail of blood to find the collapsed beast. In a frenzy she bashed at the stags head with her staff, but the beast shock off the attack and ran off, no longer spilling blood. And so chase began. Deep into the night she followed that beast, through forests, over mountains and even on ice to the edge of the sea. Eventually her second javelin hit was aimed carefully at its legs, and managed to peice one of the stags calfs. Pouncing, she bashed at the stags legs, immobilizing it before the great beast shuddered once more and fell still.

Carving up the carcass she gathered 667 cuts of meat, as well as the 14 pound hide. Setting a piece of the beast upon the ground in prayer, she had a moment of insight. There she was, covered in the blood of the innocent and standing infront of a bloodied corpse carrying 666 cuts of its raw flesh.

Would she become the great evil, terrorizing the peoples? Or will she avoid this at all costs and live peacefully off the land?
Only time will tell...
