The male had scented his pups in the lands. He knew Kira was here, he knew his once sister Angel was here. There were others here, too, and the beaten male was looking for his family. He'd seen the ghost of his mother, and she'd repeatedly told him his mate San wasn't dead. He'd skulked around the edges of the other pack, but only found his sister's twisted spawn Balraj. Now he was at this one, sniffing the borders searching for his love.

He didn't call out begging her to come, there was the strong scent of a stronger male. The depressed male knew he didn't have the strength to fight off a stronger male. He knew he could if he needed to protect San, but it would cost him his life. He didn't want to lose his life, so he watched for signs of other pack members. He just wanted to see San.

Cosette patrolled the borders, enjoying her new job and status in the pack. She had choose to stay in the house they had fought and defeated Lucien in, she just didn’t go in the basement. But the rest of the house was cool. She had chosen a large room upstairs with big, unbroken dirty windows and a door that led to a small balcony overlooking a large, wild fenced backyard. In the room had been all kinds of junk, but among the junk had been good things, like a big squishy mattress and a cracked, full length, cloudy mirror. She had spent days cleaning the mess out but she finally got it how she wanted it, the old dry rotted sheets off the bed, the clothes and the miscellaneous crap piled in another partially caved in room. She also found a jewelry box; the thing only catching her attention during her cleaning rampage because she had accidently knocked it over causing the lid to open and a mournful twinkling song to fill the room.

She hummed it now as she trotted, having figured out how the wind up mechanism worked she had listened to it over and over and just before she left her place. Now it was stuck in her head, but she didn’t mind she really liked the song. She looked up and saw the male at about the same time her nose caught scent of him. She froze like a deer in the headlights. “Hello” her voice wavering and unsure, she had never greeted a stranger before. She swallowed “Can I help you?” Ah stupid, this wasn’t open territory she should have asked him what the hell he was doing here. She frowned at her incompetence and waited for the answer to her stupid question.

Her voice reached his ears at the same time his amythest eyes spotted the female. For a long moment words were trapped in his throat. He approached her slowly, taking in her scent timidly. He paused, his posture still uncertain. "San...I've missed you so much. I...I love you so much, I went crazy when I thought I lost you." He wanted to embrace her, wanted to kiss her and feel her fur mingled with his. Last time he'd seen his beautiful mate, she'd hated him.

"Please, my love, take me back..." Over head, the sky was overcast, the grey clouds threatening rain. Gavin could smell the scent of Angel in San's coat, and the strong musk of the unknown male. He hoped the male scent was only because she lived in the male's lands, and not because she'd found someone else, someone who wouldn't break her heart.

Cosette watched wide eyed as the male came slowly closer; she had a feeling she was in danger of having her personal space violated. She pulled her head up and back, trying to draw away from him without retreating. Then he spoke and her heart broke for him. It really did, but she didn’t know any San and she had a feeling it wasn’t going to be fun telling the poor guy this. She relaxed a little, resigning herself to rip the heart out of this unknown guy. She sighed, “I’m sorry, but I don’t know a San and I’m not her, my name is Cosette it has been for as long as I can remember” She smiled apologetically at him, “I really am sorry” she paused again and looked down, she didn’t want to see the crushed look she put on his face. She blushed beneath her fur as his words flitted across her memory, to have someone like that pronouncing their love for you; this San was a lucky woman to have what would be a handsome male pining after her. She dared a glance up at him then away again, his violet eyes reminding her of Angel.

He was devastated, yes, but he found anger boiling away under the numbing depression of the last many months. "You are not Cosette. You are no longer Azizi's slave, San. Azizi is dead. I lost my family in making sure of that. I freed you and the pack of him. Why on earth would you retain the name he gave you?" Under the anger, he felt a deep sense of hurt. Had he wounded her so deeply that she would prefer Azizi over him? He deliberately stepped forward again, less than a half foot seperating the two.

His violet eyes burned with conviction as he stared at him mate. "You are my mate, San. Our pups are out there somewhere, seperated from us, their parents. Last I knew, Arvid had them. You belong with me, and them."

She rocked back, fear bubbling to the surface of her consciousness mixing with the confusion that reigned supreme. "What are you talking about?" her voice wavered, her confusion and fear apparent in it. She wasn't sure what freaked her out more, the uncertainity he had planted in her of what she knew about herself, or the fact that she recognized the names he had used. She stepped back from him,if she recognized the names then what did that mean? Did it mean it was true? "We have pups?" She looked at him, wondering if she could trust him and what he was saying. The last time she had trust someone she had been made a slave.

He stepped forward again, his shoulder brushing hers in a tender touch. "San, yes...we have pups together. Willow and Linden. I don't know where they are...I thought you and they were dead, San." He gathered his courage and nuzzled her cheek timidly. "San, I love you...I always have, and I always will. I need you in my life, San. I've been to hell and back for you, and I'd do it again."

He nuzzled her again, breathing in deeply of her scent. "You were there for me when my mother died, you were there for me when my father left, when my brother died. I was at your side when you birthed our pups...I was lost without you. I need you in my life, my love." He was afraid she'd tell him now that she had a new mate, perhaps the male scent imbedded in her coat.

She stood still, barely as he closed the distance between them. His touch sending a little burst of electricity through her body. She closed her eyes trying to process what he was telling her, trying to shake off the uncertainty, and fear. She opened her eyes again and found her nose planted in his side. She jumped away from him, startled at her actions with… whoever he was. Despite what he said she didn’t know him though she was starting to feel like she should. “I don’t even know your name…” her only argument against everything he was saying. She wanted to believe him, she wanted to remember because the sight of him invoked something in her, a sense of peace and longing, and a sense of belonging. She studied him, wishing she could remember the things he spoke of and if they were in fact true. She was starting to recognize him though; he looked like Angel’s boy. “You look like Taheko, Angel’s son” she paused and searched his face looking for recognition or something.

Gavin felt relaxed as she nuzzled into him, a little surprised when she pulled away. His brow furrowed as she claimed not to know his name. "San...I'm Gavin, your mate." He searched her face a little desperately, trying to read her, trying to find the answers he needed. "Call your alpha. I want to stay with you, want to stay at your side. I can't lose you again." The name Taheko meant noting to him. The name Angel sent a spasm of pain across his face and eyes. "Angel is my sister by blood, though she would not claim that relationship anymore." He would not claim her children as his own, however. She had drugged him, had raped him.

She looked away from him in disappointment when he offered his name. It didnt dredge up any long lost memories, didn't answer any questions he hadnt already answered. She was left with nothing but her over taxed trust. She wanted to trust him, she considered herself a trusting being by nature, but what he just set on her lap was a little unbelieveable. Sure part of her wanted what he said to be true, for her to have a happy little family with him somewhere but part of her still burned from her past months of servitude to Angel, the last time she had really trusted someone. Her eyes dart back to him at the mention of meeting Odiado, while the dark male had become her personal brand of hero she didnt make herself blind to who he was. She was well aware of the absense of other males besides him, she also became aware that something creepy happened to her leader every once in a while but that was something she never wittnessed first hand and had only accidently found on the wind. It wasn't in this Gavin's best interest to be here, but she couldn't really deny someone an audience with Odiado either. Her amber eyes watched him stioicly as his face contorted in to something; pain, shame or both; she was sure there was a interesting story behind that look. After a moment to consider, she raised her voice to the sky calling for the almighty leader. He had asked for it after all even though she wasnt sure what to think of his reason for meeting him. She sat back on her haunches, silently trying to exude calmness while she waited for Odiado to show up, because it would only make it harder on the Gavin-guy if Odi showed up and she was freaked out or so she assumed.

It had been a week since Odiado was really awake. The memories of what had happened during some of those times were fuzzy at best and he knew the reason why too. His damn monsters had slipped in side his body during that considerably small episode and when he woke up it was like things had not changed. What had he done? He wasn't sure, but really it would all be in his best interest no mater how it turned out. After all, his monsters needed a host to play parasite on, and he had been willing to house them. His head shook some dried leaves off of where they had fallen during one of his many daytime naps. Curse that sun. It was his only true enemy, blindingly bright, burning his eyes and making his whole body feel like it was about to burst into flames. He was still in his primal and natural form, four legs stretched under his body as he yawned and prepared to join the living again. Kicking a severed head of the stone man out of his path he found his feet bringing him to the source of a howl that he had only faintly heard earlier. He drifted just out of sight and smell, his body moving with the shadows of his labyrinth as he sized up the male slightly listening in to their conversation. His promoted lady seemed to not take the stud as a threat, but the sight of a strong bodied brute still set the more dominating side of Odiado off. Should he run him off? Kill him were he stood? He licked his teeth as he pondered how to deal with the situation. In the end he chose the path that would be less of a pain. Ok, even a king was allowed a bit of laziness once in a while. He moved his location again only to slip into view from just off right of the traveler. "Cossette, you called for me?" His strange twisted eyes briefly visited her face to pick up on whatever it was that she might be hiding, then fell to the male. "I suppose it was for you, correct?" He almost smiled, that half moon grin teasing at his lips as he moved into their space. His posture was not threatening or displaying his rank superficial ways, just comfortable and natural.

The golden male waited, unsure of what was to come. he'd always been on the other side of the meet and greet. But now here he was, entreating entrance into a pack he knew nothing of, to be with a female who didn't remember him. He almost laughed at his position, but then the almost smile was erased as the black male arrived. Gavin hunched his shoulders, trying to make his large frame seem smaller. When the black male spoke, the golden male couldn't hold his snappy reply. "Her name is San, not Cossette. Cossette is the slave name Azizi and Angel imposed on her when they used her to hurt me. And I am Gavin Rheams, her mate. I have come to be at her side."

He suddenly realized the foolishness of speaking without thought, but his violet gaze didn't waver from the darker male's mismatched eyes. With San at his side, some of his old self was returning. The abyss within was ebbing slightly, leaving the golden male feeling somewhat stronger.

[I'm the lazy poster still, sorries]

She jerked when Odiado's voice peirced the silence of the clearing. She nodded answering Odiado's question trying not to meet his look, because she wasn't sure how he would react to her after Gavin told him why he was here. Hell she didn't even know how to react. Odiado turned his attention to Gavin and after Gavin's outburst, so did Cosette. She was a little surprised that she found herself growing a little angry at her supposed mate and a little defensive of her alpha. But she said nothing though she itched to say something even though she wasnt exactly sure what to say. She stood up anxiously waiting for Odiado to snap, and just like that she found something to say "Please don't hurt him, I don't know if what he's saying is true, but I don't want anyone to get hurt on account of me" She chanced a glance at her alpha, still feeling anxious about the situation and her own outburst. She wondered if she was assuming too much or if she would get Odiado's wrath turned on her.

So, he wasn't miss hearing when he lingered just out of sight. Curious. At the male's outburst, his smile only fell for a moment, his killing tools exposed for a sweet long stretch of time before his lady Cossette spoke in turn and pleaded for a reprieve. Posture fell back into neutral- a few deep breaths the only sign that he was attempting to listen to her desires. "Well, Gavin Rheams, your 'mate' has only referred to herself as Cossette before, so it is no fault of mine to only know her as such." His voice only held the bitter after taste of one who was wronged. "As she wishes me not to start a fight over such a trivial thing as a name, I can over look this matter for now..." The fighting response was more out of habit then pure aggravation, he was alpha- this stranger was nothing. To be shouted at in your own home was very poor judgement on this poor blokes side than Odiado's. His lip twitched the last sign he was irritated before he turned to Cossette or San. "Is this all true Cossette? Or do you wish to be known as San now?" Single brow lifted as he inspected her almost torn features. "I do not wish to loose you too. So if you wish him to join us I will make an exception to my usual rule." He kept a trained eye on the male for a moment. "But, if he is bothering you- I will take care of things from here and you may leave." He would not allow a man from outside to lay an harsh hand to the few kind souls he had gathered.

Gavin's ears wilted as he listened to the dark male who as of yet remained unnamed. He tried to remind himself that he was no longer a leader of anyone, and as such had no right to raise his head above the other males. It was easier when he told himself he would be at San's side if she only allowed him to. All she had to do was give this dark brute the word, though, and he would be chased off, or rather, given the males' seeming temperment, killed. He looked down, letting his gaze touch the ground. He didn't move a muscle, excpet to blink his deep violet eyes.

Once, he had been a young prince, future Alpha. And then his mother had fallen ill, and she'd named him the alpha. He'd made a poor choice and trusted Azizi against his better judgement, to save his pack, and his mother. Azizi had ruined it all, causing his brother's death, and the brutalization of every female under his rule. Angel had assisted the monster in destroying everything. Everything had fallen apart then. When the tyranny of Azizi had ended, Gavin had taken the torn ruins of his pack and returned to the Vista lands. Nothing had ever gotten better. Gavin's mother had trusted the young male with her lands, and Gavin had destroyed them instead. He still suffere dthe pangs of guilt over it. He still doubted his own ability to lead. He would never attempt to lead again.

She grimaced when Odiado turned his attention back to her. He asked her if what he said was true and what she wanted to be called, she looked down lost. She didn’t know what to tell him because she didn’t know herself. Then he continued causing her to look up at him, almost in wonder. She cracked a smile at him which lasted only a moment since it was wiped out as soon as he spoke again. But in its own way it was sweet too. “I don’t know what my name is, or where I came from. I only took Cosette as a name because Angel had said that it was my name, you were there I think.” She looked to Odiado an apologetic look on her face. “I would really like it if I could find out if what he is saying is true, and if it is maybe he could help me regain my memories” She felt like a pup begging her parent for something despite the fact that she was probably older than her alpha.

Watching and listening as the plain and bitter emotions of both show so easily. "Then I guess there is no helping it then. I accept him as a comrade." His voice was begrudging, but unwavering. "I am Odiado and our pack is known as Catalyst. For now you will start under my lady's rule, prove your loyalty and you will rise in rank and responsibility." His rump found the ground and he again to the role to observe and note any important change in character as each took in this strange event. It was rare indeed when Odiado allowed a male to enter his realm with out chains or death waiting just inside the boarder. "I trust that you will show him the huts soon so he may set up a den for himself. Is there anything you would like to ask me, or I will return to my duties."

[sorry for the lame sauce post...Figured I would just kinda give them the option to talk to odi or he can just leave the love-birds to whatever it is they do. x3]
