Goal for the New Forum
To stay as active as possible. Keep the students active, and notify Rynlar about inactive students as soon as there has been no activity for one week.
• Please look in your forums. I have removed any of your students classrooms that have been gone since July. Any posts made in August have stayed. If your student asks you where their classroom is, tell them to the Class Drop Forum. This is where their room is. They need to post in their room there for me to move it back. There will be directions in that forum for them to get their room back. Same with inactive teachers as well.
•As you see we have our new skin from Deliria up. So please be sure to thank her. The image at the top is made my Kennelwood(aka: Bekky).
• Please Please PLEASE stay active everyone. If you go to the Class Drop section and see how many inactive rooms there were please change that.
• Please make sure you guys remember the 100 theme Challenge. I havn't seen any posts from anyone yet, so please remember to do that. We all would love to see that from you.

• If your looking for your classroom please look in the class drop section. There will be directions on how to get your room back up. Please read these. To get your room back, you must do exactly what the directions say.
• If you guys think you won't be able to stay active through the school year or such please tell Rynlar. We can't have a student taking up a spot and not participating when we can have students that can have that spot. So please keep in contact with Rynlar.

OP SNATCHER!!!!
For Grades and Assignments.
A quick key to my acronyms: NHI or N/A means not handed in or not applicable, I use them interchangeably depending on whether or not my H key is in the mood to work on the internet. Neither of them are bad, it just means they aren't due yet. NYA means that I've thought of an assignment I want to give you but have Not Yet Assigned it.

Alright, I am going to need you to explain to me more what you mean about coding websites. What I think you're saying is that you'd like to move beyond coding for sim games and start doing more professional coding? And also that you essentially know the ins and outs of the most popular codes on sim games?

Based on what I think I've gotten out of that post, and I'll grant myself that it's late and most of my students are complete beginners so bear with me, I think we'll start with tweaking the design of your sim game layouts and then editing your sim style to match a more professional web design. If you'd rather approach it differently, please do tell me, I'm shooting in the dark here as to where to start you off.

I forgot to mention this though: I'm really excited to get the chance to try and teach you, it's going to be different from the rest of my lessons bounce.gif

Yay! I was close! And lol at the German typing!

I guess we'll get started at figuring out what exactly you know. But unlike with my usual level 1 vocab sheet, I'm just going to ask. By the way,as a forewarning, when it comes to advanced webcoding, it may take me a day or two sometimes to get your assignment up because that won't be the average everyday coding I do, so I may need to play with it some to be sure that I am positive about the coding before I try to explain it to you. Which just means that I do know what I'm doing, but I always run through and check codes before I claim that they'll work. mostly because I tend to get going too quickly and drop punctuation and then they don't tongue.gif

So, with my rather long winded explanation, here's your first assignment!

Assignment 1: Starting Out
The whole idea of this assignment is just for me to get a bead on where you are as far as what pieces of coding we don't need to hit. I'm going to assume you know how to change fonts, make simple tables, make somewhat more complex tables, combine rows and columns in tables, use header tags, insert images, and so on. Go into pretty much any of my other student's classrooms and look at the level 1 lesson 1 vocab. You don't have to do it, but do tell me if there is anything there you don't know. (I doubt there is, but just check for me)

Do you know:
how to create a scrolling table box?
how to create an expanding table box?
how to create a scroll without using tables?
how to make a section expand without using tables?
how to code a banner at the top of your page with absolute positioning?
how to code a banner at the top of your page with tables?
how to create the same effect using tables and absolute positioning?

Nav Bars:
Have you ever coded one?
Left side, right side, top, just a bunch of links?
What are some benefits and drawbacks of an i-mapped banner instead of a navbar? (just list two or three for each).

And can you code an Imap?

And finally, just make sure you have a website, I use a www.freewebs.com site, if you already have your own website you are more than welcome to use that as long as each blank page you create is completely free of HTML. Then post me a link here.

What are some benefits and drawbacks of an i-mapped banner instead of a navbar? (just list two or three for each). with an i-mapped banner, its much prettier and more noticable

And can you code an Imap? yes biggrin.gif

I have a website but lately its been acting up with the main css, so if it acts up again ill use a freewebs XD [here] thats not the blank one, its just a website i started coding. it has an i-map navigation just to give you an idea of what i can do XD. [here] is the blank page XD

lol! It's debate camp, if I plan to be competitive this year I have to go. And I will be competitive wink.gif

Anyway, I went and looked at colleges today, so I promise I'll try and get a page made for you tomorrow. Sorry about that. I usually don't take this long to make assignments.

Alright, here's a pretty simplistic website with a vertical left nav bar. The nav bar image is UGLY and exists only to outline where the nav bar IS, since it's really just a table cell. The banner image is rather attractive though. Basic idea is, do your best to copy this website, using tables instead of absolute position (like span codes). It shouldn't take you more than about 45 minutes, so time yourself and stop if you go more than 15minutes over time. The links aren't colored or anything because I'm assuming you know how to do that as this point.

Due Date: 3 days from today, whatever that may be.

Banner: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v683/pet...ndByMeSigB3.jpg
Main writing area: 600px wide
15px between writing and nav bar
35 px between bottom of writing and start of credits

Bar Image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v683/pet.../Rdnckhead1.jpg (400x40)
any editted font sizes are either 14 or 1
table border is 4 px, hex 13577b
the red font is C40000

If there is any important info I left out, let me know! Best of luck!

ok . . . it took me around a half hour to do this XD in the beginning the pretty image on the top wouldn't go in the border . . . so that took 5ish minutes to figure out. the rest was easy, and im assuming the nav-links are supposed to be out of place, because yours are also. for me, it was very simple to code, basic knowledge XD anyways [here] is the copied webpage XD
