Augmentin is a penicillin antibiotic. ingredients found in augmentin contains a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic in a troop of drugs called penicillins. Amoxicillin fights bacteria in the body. Clavulanate potassium is a construction of clavulanic acid.
