Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that the Global Library was "replaced" by the Universal Library created in the Universal Library Coalition resolution?
The Coalition seems to be the sponsor of the library network created in the ULC resolution and the executive committee administers it.

Yes, I think that is exactly what really happened. So the question is, what is a good way to denote that? smile.gif

Thanks BTW! smile.gif

How many of these committees are active? I appreciate UN RP isn't huge on NS - pretending to be a Sith warrior is much more interesting - but there seem to be lots of opportunities here. Beyond adding an organization to the IRCO list, adding a chapter to the UNA list, adding an item to the World Heritage List, and applying to sit on The Pretenema Panel, what to do, what to do?

It seems the UNWODC isn't going to be RPed, and I can't find any evidence of recent activity in the UNCIAT forums, but beyond that, there's still many committees. Of those, are any currently being RPed?

Don't be too sure to presume the UNWODC won't get roleplayed. My king just gave up his left kidney for his people:

05 Sep 2005: "He'd give his left kidney for a better economy..."

While that was a national effort, it can lead eventually to international awareness and involvement in due time. (i.e., I just ran across this tonight.)

For right now, I'm very interested in helping revitalize the UN Committee on Illicit Arms Trafficking (UNCIAT)

I posted there to see if we can jump start their annual conference.

I only found out about all this today researching of my own proposed resolution here:

DRAFT PROPOSAL: Chemical Weapons Compliance Commission (CWCC)

As a new player to the game, I'm glad to see the possibilities for roleplaying provided here.

I don't necessarily want to create a new 'committee of the month club,' just to see them fizzle.

But I think there's a way that there can be synergism between the TPP and the UNCIAT if there was a chemical-weapons related commission sort of 'forwarding cases' both of their ways.

The same can be done with conventional, bio and nuclear weapons usage and controls.

I'm game!

I thought the UNWODC was handed over to the UN Gnomes?

Anyway, I really think a conference (Mikitivity and Galdago permitting) would be an excellent way to give UNCIAT - and UN RP in general - a shot in the arm.

Yep, I am still active a s author of the UNWODC however the main members who expressed a wish to role play it are it seems no more!

Nargopia ceased to exist last month while New Matrex seems to be heading that way.

Sad when Older Nations Move along. sad.gif

Listeneisse just passed two related pieces of legislation: organ donating and euthanasia.

So, if you are dying, you can donate your body for medical purposes.

While we believe in the sanctity of life, we also believe in respecting the choice of how one wishes to live or die.

We believe in 'self-sacrifice,' if one choses. To die for the sake of others, and for the commonweal. This we believe is the ultimate Christian act. While not all our subjects are Christian, they can see the ethical stance behind this for the most part.

We do not believe in 'suicide' which is a self-destructive course for the benefit of no one, or worse, the harm of many.

We turn away many applications from black-clothes-wearing bored teenagers who think that euthanasia will let them get out of their homework or away from their 'rents,' as they've learned to say from American television.

These needful souls are instead made to work as volunteers in the Perilous Forest Conservation Corps. Since they don't care to live, they don't care to be paid, we reason. After a refreshing stint of sunshine, in due time we let them work in the charitable hospitals for the ill and dying.

Then they can see, and finally appreciate, what true suffering is like. Meet the terminally ill. Hear their stories in their final days.

While many hospital bureaucrats and equipment vendors twinged when we told them that their life support systems were likely to be cut back by this decision, we feel it is for the best.

To let the dying teach a lesson to the youth before they go, and then to let them pass with dignity.

The teens, for the most part, return to their 'rents' sober and wiser. Some return to the lush forests for another stint in the PFCC, and some begin careers in healthcare.

How is the UNWODC organized presently?

It is currently a UN resolution enforced by the Compliance Ministry and run by the UN Gnomes.

Maybe an award if we could find out 'UN Nations that donate the most organs...'?

Kidding aside, nothing much but perhaps a bit of RP for the IRCO. Some international incident that requires tons of donors, perhaps. A bit of side reference to the other committee. But there does not need to be a standing 'committee.'

I keep seeing this as a sort of 'soap opera.' Topics will come up and get forgotten all the time. There's no need to make an ongoing UNWODC team-of-human players, but there could be an II that required a bit of highlighting of it. For '1 or 2 episodes.' Certainly wouldn't want to have a full season of it.

"I'm so glad the UNWODC was created! With his new liver my son will live!" *weep joyfully*

I had pffted the issue off myself until it came up in my own nation. It's not something I'll be purposefully focusing on, I assure you. But, IC, it's one of my king's passionate issues now.
