Yes, I was wondering how would you react if a shounen or shoujo ai pairing became canon in the show, which is now quite impossible since 1.The series are finished and 2. sadly , kids show almost never show this kind of pairing
But please, not those "OMG BUT TYKA IZ SO KANON LOLZZ!!" or any comments about any other pairing of this kind :sweatdrop: , even though mentioning pairings is alright ^__^ Anyway. I would have rather mixed feelings. Obviously it depends on which pairing to become canon. But the fact that there WOULD be some official proof could also change my views on the pairing. As an example, if *random* Rei/max (as a RANDOM choice) became official, I could start to like it (or not xD), despite my current uneasiness on this pairing. However, it can sometimes ruin a couple you previously shipped. In my case, if Rei/Kai became canon, it would lose what the couple did best: providing what I can see as subtle hints in the show. But that's just my opinion. How about you? |

Even if it did, I'd never see it due to the censorship in this country XD
I'd be ok if it was a pairing I liked, for example... Tyson x Max. If it was something strange like I dunno, Brooklyn x Kai I'd probably ignore those parts of the show XD |

:Gasps: Brooklyn/Kai is not strange!!! It's a totally feasible pairing!!
... (Steph: Let's see... Brooklyn defeated Kai. And in the process, humiliated and damaged Kai. Kai defeated Brooklyn, but Brooklyn almost killed Kai. But Brooklyn destroyed Kai's beloved bit-beast instead. Brooklyn hated Kai. Brooklyn went insane due to Kai. Hm... Very feasible, of course, why didn't I see it sooner? Ali: Yes, why didn't you?? :sticks tongue out: Of course it's feasible!!! It's practicully meant to be!! :falls off chair; again: Stephie: Beyblade is an action/adventure anime directed towards a young, juvenile audience, not some unrealistic, PWP-type yaoi manga drawn and written by some talentless, hormone-driven young woman. Ali: ...You're a cruel, cruel person... You make mne sad T-T) Well, if a yaoi/yuri pairing became official, my reaction would depend upon the pairing and how the romance would be executed, all that stuff. It's all well and good to have my own imaginings and such, but to me, in the very end, in the big bold print, most of the pairings I want to be official are... straight pairings. They'd be... Takao/Hiromi Rei/Mao Max/Mariam Daichi/Ming-Ming Kyouju/Emily Hitoshi/OC(Mine... Don't kill me!!!) If we're just talkin' that particular team here. I know, weird, they're all straight. I don't even read these pairings, EVER!!! I only read yaoi! Now, the only pairing(s) that I'd want to be official in Beyblade that'd be yaoi would be... Yuri/Kai OR Brooklyn/Kai I'm only talking about the main main peoples, by the way, I hadn't figured out other team things. But I don't like the idea of pairings like... Kiki/Ivan or something, just because they're around the same size. I mean, not EVERYONE in the anime has to be paired. I don't really like Giancarlo/Olivier being official either, because Giancarlo is, rather obviously, straight. But in fics, that's perfectly fine!!! Since it'd just make it plain unrealistic to have everyone gay or something, I think that almost every girl should be paired with someone, there are so few of them. Well, I'm not sure about Julia, I just always think of her with her brother(not incest, though I'm OK with that in fanfics), and her having a boyfriend would just... take her away from her brother. But maybe later in the future. They can't always stick together... can they...? Well, when pairings become official, then... that kind of ruins things a lot for people who liked a different pairing. For some reason however, if it's a hetero official pairing, it's OK to go against that and turn it into yaoi... or that could just be me talking gibberish... Well, I'm not exactly sure really, but I'd like it better if they just made more hints, because then it's not official, but people can feed off hints or ignore them, whatever they'd like. Officiality kind of... messes it up...? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doean't I guess... Ja ne, I should stop rambling, Ali |

Agree, even though I am utterly shocked at the idea of twincest, sorry xD But yeah, their relation could deteriorate if Julia had a boyfriend in the series, and on the practical side, it would affect their synchronisation while they beyblade. Oh, and what you call "rambling" is a perfectly fine way to express your opinion, don't feel forced to stop it ^_^ . |

I think what you all need to understand, also, is because shounen-ai is perfectly acceptable in Japanese productions (i mean, they coined all these terms we're using, right?), the writers of these shows intentionally drop as many hints as humanly possible without getting into any hot water. Furthermore you can tell they're quite seasoned at attracting fans by playing both sides of the game; dropping straight AND gay hints.
Just off the top of my head I know fans are bitterly divided as to whether or not specific characters from Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy VII, Gundam Seed, Digimon, Trigun, Shaman King, and of course Beyblade belong in gay or straight pairings. (And all the while, the makers of said shows/games sit back and enjoy all the noteriety they're getting. Figuratively speaking anyway; Japanese animators work long, grueling hours to make a living… ^.~) But as long as the fans enjoy spotting teh hints (yeah, me too XD) that's how they're going to keep making these storylines. Not that I don't appreciate shows that try to break into new territory. Some of my favorite animations these days are ones with little-to-no romance and more emphasis on friendship. :D Ironically, the shows I'm talkin about are directed towards the mature (sophisticated??) viewers. It almost seems like it's the 'kiddie shows' that get too caught up in Pairing!Mania. XD;; |
