Of course it sounds scary because of the way it was edited and has that ominous music in the background. I think you're overreacting.

I do think we're in greater danger, but only because there are suckers who actually believe this propaganda crap. What is this, Soviet Russia?

The protect America act is the law that Bush put into play to justify his wiretapping of American phones. It allows him warrantless surveillance on any target reasonably believed to be outside the U.S. Basically what happened was this:
1. Bush wiretapped phones
2. He got caught
3. He took it to the Supreme Court
4. He lost
5. He tried to change the law to make what he did legal

The Protect America act is th result of step five. Personally, I'm GLAD it expired. Any bill containing the word "reasonably" is just asking to be abused.

I agree completely, which makes me wonder what kind of laws will be passed after we elect our new president.

This one was passed by Republicans, buddy.

Man, I wish I worked in Congress so I can leave work early if I get pissed at my coworkers and not get fired. Well, at least not for a few years.

This is over some wiretapping bill? Aren't there already procedures to place legal wiretaps on people?

And if this was a movie, I would not watch that movie. I couldn't figure what it was about from the trailer. Is it about the high-tension partisan politics in Washington, DC? Is it about terrorists who want to kill us because our government is full of assholes? Is it about the exciting lives of people who post propaganda videos on YouTube and then laugh while they delete the comments?

EDIT: Oh, and that video explained nothing. It talked about how this one law expired and how it can be used to collect information on terrorists or something. It would have been more convincing if it provided examples of how it did so or could do so.
Then again, I'm probably smarter than most people who've seen that video, so maybe I'm just too much of an asshat to let my politics be decided by anyone who does not make webcomics.
