"Tomorrow For Us" is set about two months after the end of RENT the movie.

Following Angel and Mimi's near brushes with death, the eight bohemians have bonded together to help the two women recover and each other stay strong. Even Benny has agreed to forget the issue of rent until things quiet down. Roger and Collins stand strong by their loved ones, and Maureen and Joanne manage to forego their fighting to help their friends.
But Mark grows distant. Following the major popularity of his documentary, "Today 4 U," Alexi Darling renews her attempts to get the film maker back on BuzzLine. Following a severe relapse into his state of unrequited love for Maureen (which none of the other bohemians are aware of), Mark accepts the job
He spends more and more time working, and less and less with his friends. However, their preoccupation with Mimi and Angel's recovery, the seven fail to notice until things get critically out of control.
A few weeks after Mark takes the job back, a segment airs on BuzzLine claiming that lawyer Joanne Jefferson had an affair with one of her clients, a supposed murderer recently found innocent. Within days, the segment is all over the newspapers and TV.
Maureen, furious, informs Joanne that they are "over" and storms out of the loft. As the weeks go on, more and more harmful news featuring Joanne is released on BuzzLine and several other local TV shows. Maureen hasn't been seen for weeks. Mark has dropped all contact with his friends and family, and has recently announced his engagement to Alexi. Joanne slips into depression. Angel recovers, but Mimi's condition becomes more and more critical. Benny, down on his luck financially, chooses now to resume his threats of "Eviction or Pay". The remaining bohemians must band together to sing, dance, and fight their way through the tough times in order to save their friends, find out who's publishing the false, harmful news about Joanne, and pay the rent....or there may not be a tomorrow for any of them.

Another few days have gone by, and a very eventful few days they were. Angel had a talk with Maureen and convinced her to cheer up about her situation with Joanne. She reminded her that Joanne would never be unfaithful, and Maureen cheered up immensly.
Collins, deciding to visit Mimi in the hospital, got stuck in an elevator for several hours. After his cries for help were finally heard, Angel was lowered down into the elevator shaft to save him. She injured her hips quite badly, but, not wanting to have anybody fussing over her, stayed quiet about it.
The very same night, Angel and Collins were sitting at home and heard Mimi's desperate cries for help in the alley a few streets down. They rushed to her rescue and, with the help of a mysterious new friend, Emily, they knocked The Man, who had been harassing Mimi, unconcious. Angel suffered a broken leg and discovered that she had hairline fractures along her hips, Collins suffered a broken nose and both Emily and Mimi were unharmed, other than Mimi's already dire condition.
Angel and Collins spent the night together in a hospital room, but then Collins was released and kicked out as visiting hours were over. He sadly left Angel, but discovered that it was Valentine's Day and decided to put the plans he had been thinking about for quite some time to action. He went out and bought a bouquet of roses and something special for Angel.
A few hours later, Collins surprised Angel in her hospital room and sat down with her on her bed, where he romantically proposed. Angel said yes, of course, and now the happy couple is engaged!
More happy news came later that day, as after celebrating their happy engagement, Angel and Collins received a call saying that Mimi was getting better, and they could take her home! Life seems to be looking up for the bohos for now, but who knows what will happen next?
