Plottage!

Merc felt rather ill. Rather ill and rather stupid.
"I know!" He exclaimed as Kit attempted to...do something. "Oh God. Let's never ever talk about that ever again, okay? It was all a bad dream. Hey maybe we can use a memory charm, how do you do them?" He realised if they didn't do something drastic he would never be able to look her in the eye again...

[Tamare]

Giving up on her tongue, Kit sighed and leaned against the wall next to Merc. "I'm going to have a shower and get all the disgusting love dust off me, and you're going to do the same. Got it? We'll get Roddie and Bel to cover for us... it's only Arithmancy next, and we both do well enough in that already." She ran a hand through her hair and pushed her glasses further up her nose. "After that, we'll meet... outside that portrait of the dwarf up the palm tree, and we'll figure out how we're going to get back at whoever did this."

"Right," said Merc firmly before half-sprinting away.
What was he going to do? This was worse than having been hexed or cursed for sure!
He rounded a corner and went up a flight of stairs til he reached a portrait of a small group of pixies playing flutes. Helios, Merc said flatly. It swung open and admitted him, there was noone else inside the Hufflepuff common room, for which he was most thankful.
He ran up to his dorm room and grabbed some clean clothes, intending to burn the ones he was wearing right now, lest the powder contaminate him again. Merc then quickly went to the bathroom, turning the hot water up full blast. He vigorously rinsed his hair under the jet of water. When he was done, he donned his new clothes, a white button-up shirt and loose, black jeans. He threw a black school cloak over and was ready to go. His hair was still damp, but that was alright. The steam had definitely made him feel better.

It was actually rather funny when he thought about what had happened now. He grinned and waited at the portrait she had described, playing with some frayed ends on his cloak at the wrist.

The steam in the shower had made her hair damp and curlier than ever. Kit put her glasses on as she raced to get to the top of the flight of stairs before it switched directions. She had changed and was now wearing her favourite freen Weird Sisters t-shirt, and a pair of jeans with her school boots. Kit didn't wear shoes, she wore boots. Rounding the corner, she flipped a clean school robe over her shoulder and came face to face with Merc. "Feeling not-so-loving?"

Merc grinned, then started laughing. He couldn't help it. The whole thing was so ridiculous.
"Well," he said winking at her. "I feel normal again which is a hell of a relief I tell you." Her hair smelt quite strongly of strawberries right now, probably from having just showered. Whilst it was nice, it didn't make him completely crazy, like before.
"So what's the plan? I don't think anyone planted it or anything just to humiliate us. I mean, it was just an old musty cupboard, and besides," he added tapping his nose and grinning. "There weren't any witnesses to our moment of passion.."

[Tamare]

"To which I am eternally grateful," Kit moaned, leaning against the wall. "My Gaaawwwd."

"But why the hell would there be a powdered form of Armortentia in a costumes cupboard? Apart from the obvious reason, that someone was doing some odd performance and they needed something to... make it more realistic," Kit smirked.

[Shenavyre]

"Ach no! Luckily noone else went in there," Merc considered. "Should we head off to Arithmancy or not?"

"Meh. I don't want the homework and you don't need the stress of me asking you to do my homework. I wouldn't mind skiving, but that all depends on what you want to do..." Kit considered. "Blokey is already under the impression we're sick, so we could tell the Prof. next lesson to ask him. Does that make sense?"

[Shenavyre]

"It does rather. I don't really mind Arithmancy that much though, what would we do, do you reckon?" He pondered for a moment. "It's the last lesson of the day...we could pop off to Hogsmeade for a jaunt if you wish, or not." Merc waited for Kit to decide.

[Tamare]

"OH, fun!" Kit held up her hand to be high-fived. "I say, that does sound... merry. Oh, I loved that book!" She frowned, trying to place a name. "Lord... Lordy Necklace... Lord... Lord of the Rings!" the flickering torch gave her face a devilish grin. "It seems there are some good aspects of being stuck in the country all summer - lots of reading!"

[Shenavyre]

"Excellent!" Merc cried. "Then we shall spend the rest of this day in moderate freedom. Wait a moment, please," he added, fishing around for something in his pockets. Merc pulled out a small blue device with a string attached at the end. He pulled it, and it scuttled away into one of the many crevices in the castle. Noticing Kit's enquiring look, Merc explained. "Rod'll cover for us in Arithmancy don't you worry!" He tapped his nose, then winked. "Shall we head off Kitkat?"

[Tamare]

"Sure thing, motor-car. I believe we have earnt ourselves a treat, after our episode today."

Kit tapped his cheek then her nose, and began to walk down towards the entrance hall - not before grabbing a clump of Merc's hair and pulling him along too.

After removing his hair from Kit's clutches, Merc rubbed his hands together in fiendish glee. "Hogsmeade! Hogsmeade!" He sang happily. He really did love Hogsmeade.
Merc put a casual arm around Kit's shoulder and looked down at her, continuing quite merrily, "Now no one will be manning the entrance because they're all attending to their schooling duties - we can easily slip past! I'd say we have the rest of the afternoon off...hang on, we'd better take our school robes off to avoid suspicious village folk asking awkward questions. Luckily we've got Muggle clothing on underneath, but we'll be cold then. Hmm wait here a sec." Merc then swiftly raced back to the Hufflepuff common room, dashed up the stairs to the dormitories and grabbed two jerseys from his floor. He raced back to where Kit was patiently waiting.
"Here." Merc thrust one of the jerseys into her hands as he pulled the other over his head. It would definitely be too big for her, but hey, at least she won't freeze, he thought. Turning back to her, he grinned. "Hey we'll match!" Merc said, indicating to the huge German soccer motifs on both the jerseys.

Kit snorted and slapped Merc on the back and he handed her a jersey. "Match, but I'll be a traitor for the rest of my life," she retorted, giving in and pulling the jersey over her head. "This is surprisingly warm, you know." She reached up and slung an arm round his shoulders, once he had pulled his own jersey on. "So, off to Hogsmeade we go, my not love!"

Merc grinned splendidly. "Glad to see you attired in my national colours such!" With that, Merc stuck out his wand in the general direction he thought Hogsmeade was in. "Let us depart these walls and venture yonder!"
He linked arms with her, and they marched down the corridor, Merc leading of course. He wasn't sure if she had used the secret passage before. Probably not, he reckoned. Although his previous impression of her as a goody two shoes prefect-in-training was rapidly fading.
Merc stopped as they reached the resolute statue of a former headmaster. With a few whispered words and well chosen taps, it slid sideways, revealing a passageway large enough to admit only one person at a time. He gave a flourished bow. "Ladies first," he said, standing up straight again and winking.
