Rayven and Kyra

[Ariadne]

Walking into her dorm room, Rayven Dropped her book bag beside her bed and then sat down on it. From her position in the very middle of the bed, Kyra opened one tawny eye to survey who had disturbed her nap. Seeing that it was her mistress, the fluffy cat yawned, stood, arched her back and sat back down to reguard her mistress. Smiling fondly at the cat, Rayven scratched one of Kyra's ears. Closing her eyes, Kyra began to purr loudly. Her smile widening, Rayven picked her cat up and held her gently. Her eyes filled with that hautiness(sp?) that all cats seemed to have, Kyra allowed her mistress to hold her. When she'd had enough, Kyra slipped from Rayven's arms and jumped to the ground, leaving cat hair all over the front of Rayven's robes. Jumping up onto the sill of window next to Rayven's bed, Kyra promptly set about washing her long, soft furr. Rayven sighed at the of her robes, then took her wand out of her pocket. With a flick of it and a few words, she removed the cat hair and then put both her wand and her robes away. Comfortable in jeans and a tie-died top, she began to read one of the David Eddings books she had brought with her to read in her spare time.

[Tamare]

Kit entered the room, heavy satchel swinging from her shoulder. She fell back on her bed with a sigh. She didn't even notice another prescence in the room, until a very furry thing brushed up against her legs. "BAAAAH!" she yelled, pulling her legs up on the bed. "What the..." Kit looked over the edge. Oh. It was only Rayven's cat, which meant...

She looked up. There lay Ray on her bed, reading what appeared to be some kind of book. That was a stupid observation. But what kind of book? A fiction book, by the size. Kit leaned in closer. "David... Eddi... Closer... David Ennink... Closer... "BAAAH!" Thump.

If Rayven hadn't noticed her presence, she must have by now.

OOC: messed around with the cat, hope you don't mind.

[Ariadne]

Rayven had been totally emersed in her book that didn't realise there was anyone else in the room except Kyra when she heard a 'BAAAH!' and a thump. Sitting up, she looked around and saw Kit on the floor. She blinked, then frowned at Kit. Kyra jumped up onto Rayven's bed and and rubbed up against Rayven, her squirrel-like tail tickling Ray's nose. Pushing Kyra's tail away from her nose, she moved closer to the foot of her bed. "Kit. Why are you on the floor?"

[Tamare]

"I was trying to see your book," Kit mumbled, her legs bent slightly over her head. Once she had gotten right way up, she sat back on the bed again, feeling rather foolish. She pushed her glasses further up her long nose. "To save me the trouble, who's it by?" she asked, ripping off her robe to reveal a polo shirt and pair of jeans.

[Ariadne]

Rayven shrugged. "David Eddings. It's the first one of the Mallorean series." Seeing that Rayven wasn't going to pay attention to her, Kyra jumped down and walked over to Kit's bed. She looked up at Kit and meowed, demanding attention.

[Tamare]

"Uhm... Rayven... why is your cat looking at me?" Kit pulled her legs back up on the bed. Needless to say she wasn't the most loving person when it came to animals. "David Eddings... isn't he the one that speaks Ye Olde?" she waved her arms around to emphasise the point.

[Ariadne]

Rayven frowned. "Ye Olde? You mean archaic speach. There are some characters that speak like that, but not all of them." She looked down at Kyra. "Kyra's looking at you because she wants you to give her some attention. She seems to think I wasn't giving her enough and decided to see if you'd be any better." She shrugged. "Just give her ears a scratch or something, then she'll leave you alone."

[Tamare]

Kit nodded and cautiously scratched the cat's ears. She drew her hand away very quickly, and looked at Rayven again. "Yeah, that thing. Nobody can understand them..." she shrugged. "At least, I can't. You can probably speak it."

[Ariadne]

Rayven nodded, and clicked her tongue to call Kyra over. When the cat jumped up onto her bed, she began to rub Kyra's back. "Reading the books has taught me a bit. If need be, I could probably say everything in archaic speach. I wouldn't, though. It takes too long to say anything."

[Tamare]

"It takes too long to say anything, let along everything with 'thys' and 'arts' and..." Kit shrugged. "You get what I mean. I don't, and you probably don't either. I mean..." she sighed and shook her head. She was confusing herself, and Ray, and probably the cat as well. "What I'm saying is, I have no idea how to talk like that and I really wouldn't want to learn because I confuse myself enough as it is and that would just make it worse, right?"

[Ariadne]

Rayven grinned. "Yeah, I understand. Merc realy confused you with talking archaic after drinking that potion Bel made, didn't he?" Remembering the prize the group had been given, she flopped onto her stomach and shimmied to the edge of the bed and reached under it. Pulling out the two cloth bags that she'd stowed there, she dropped one beside her, stood and dropped one beside Kit. "Your fifth of the prize from Potions class. Fallios decided that our potions were the best." She motioned to her hair, which was sunny yellow at the moment. "He seemed to find my changing hair potion quite amusing."

[Tamare]

"Ooh, nifty..." Kit peered into the bag. "There's nearly as many colours in here as on your head... do you think they were chanelling something?"She popped a sweet into her mouth. "And they taste good too!"

"Hopefully better than your hair, unless we added flavour to that as well..." Kit considered this for a moment. "Hey, that'd be cool!"

[Ariadne]

Rayven made a wry face at Kit. "Yeah. Then people could not only admire my hair, but eat it as well." Flopping down on her bed, she sighed. "You know, I'm not actually finding this whole changing hair thing all that amusing. Everyone keeps looking at me." Making a face, she sat up and looked over at Kit. "Why did you run out of class like that? One minute you were sort of dozing off, which was rude I might add with the pressure we were under to complete the potions, and then you just ran out. Did you have a bad dream or something?"

[Tamare]

Kit rolled her eyes. "You could say that." She really didn't want to go into detail about her dream involving Merc and herself, especially with Rayven. Some things were best kept under wraps. "I licked a bit of potion off the desk - it made me go to sleep," she tested out the lie, or half lie, rather. In truth the potion had actually landed on her finger, but it had made her go to sleep.

"At that moment in time, my problems for outweighed your own, I believe."

[Ariadne]

Rayven shrugged. "Okay." She frowned slightly. "But, why were you licking the desk? Don't you think that would be a bit dangerous with all the potions that have been spilt over the years? There's no telling what you could have ingested. Maybe you should go to the hospital wing and get checked out." Now she was worried. What if Kit had accidently licked up some harmful potion with whatever it was that had made her fall asleep? What if the one that had made her fall asleep had side-effects?
