Name: Rhys Kynan

Birthplace: Pembrokeshire, Wales
Position: The Care of Magical Creatures Professor
History: Rhys grew up on the southern coast of Wales, just outside of the touristy Tenby Harbor. His family's web of wizardry can be traced back to the first Welsh wizards, the druids. Rhys' father was the only one in the family interested in that, though - a strict traditionalist that he was glad to escape when he left for Hogwarts. But his father wasn't the only reason he was glad to leave...

Wales was always a stomping ground for magical creatures, partly because of its long history of magic and partly because muggles never notice an extra lump of fur among all the sheep. Rhys just received his acceptance letter and was walking into Tenby to pick up supplies. Emlyn, his younger sister, begged to tag along. They were racing through a field, scattering sheep; they didn't see the hipppogriff grazing on them. It was spurred by the children into attacking - since much bigger creatures live in the UK. Rhys stumbled around at his sister's first shriek and kept running until he found a place to hide.

Word managed to get home to his father. He left immediately, leaving his son to find his way back in worry and shame. Emlyn escaped badly scarred (after all, the animal wasn't attacking to kill), but Rhys hasn't been able to talk to his sister since. She can't understand his coldness, and their relationship deteriorated. His father thinks he's a coward.

Rhys went to Hogwarts the following week, and he's still there today.

Personality: Rhys doesn't just have one chip in his shoulder; he has a whole bag of 'em. Easily insulted and quick to bear grudge, his students constantly shift in and out of his favor. Those complicated mood swings are easily swept away with the lift of a wing - he has a simple appreciation of natural beauty. He'll often introduce lore and anatomy of the more dangerous creatures to avoid going near them, something his students haven't caught on to - yet. Rhys has been known to push himself too far in other aspects to compensate. He gets angry at students when they show the same weakness he did, but he means well. Sometimes hold the student back after class, slightly remorseful, and try to explain in his rough Welsh brogue the increasing need for wizards and their fellow magical beings to get along.
Physical Appearance: Rhys is surprisingly short, standing at 160 cm. His darkly curled hair accounts for another couple of centimeters, especially on windy days. Rhys in one word would be rugged: he has a perpetual stubble on his blunt, weather-beaten jaw. Thick eyebrows arch sardonically over bottle-green eyes. He likes his cloaks long and heavy, and when he has to wear muggle clothes he prefers jeans and a sweater.

All I can say is a bit more on history... a paragraph or so about his years at Hogwarts, then one about how he got the job, whether he approached unnamed principal, etc, etc.

It's just that he's 37, more than twice the age of the students, which would give him a more more to stuff around about history wise.
