Title: SMRPG VC!

Super Mallow - September 1, 2008 05:37 PM (GMT)
I know there's a topic, but this deserves an announcement

We did it. 5 years, all that work.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, is now on the Virtual Console

(Seriously, I screamed when I found out)

JonnyJinx - September 1, 2008 05:40 PM (GMT)
You sure did, right at me while I was peacefully chatting.

Anyway, hooray. So... what's gonna happen now then? With the petition and all that?

Fatmanonice - September 1, 2008 07:33 PM (GMT)
Should we start a campaign telling a buttload of people to buy it?

JonnyJinx - September 1, 2008 07:35 PM (GMT)
Now I only hope Earthbound finds it's way onto the VC - worldwide, preferably.

Shadowbolt - September 1, 2008 07:38 PM (GMT)
So what's next on the agenda? Get as many people as we can to download it?

ctt4lfecw - September 1, 2008 08:34 PM (GMT)
I think I'll play this through until morning.

RPG_master - September 1, 2008 09:50 PM (GMT)
It finally happened! Yay! ^_^

BRANDON_BURK - September 1, 2008 09:55 PM (GMT)
I kinda screamed too... Then ran around my house in a very hyperactive manner. Thank god no-one else was around to see. XD

Fatmanonice - September 2, 2008 12:05 AM (GMT)
I'm hosting a tournament on SWF where the winner will win a copy of SMRPG. Hopefully, it will get a lot of attention.

GameMaster149 - September 2, 2008 12:23 AM (GMT)
I didn't scream aloud, but I wanted to. I happened to be at my friend's house today and we were looking through the Wii Shop Channel on his Wii when I saw it and almost freaked on him! :P

I just got a chance to get it on my Wii now. I only could play a little, though, since I already have schoolwork I have had to deal with, thus preventing my playtime. I'm uber excited that after all of this, things have finally started looking up!! :D

Doopliss Boy - September 2, 2008 12:32 AM (GMT)
I only screamed when I saw it cause no one was around.

But yah this is awesome! Too bad I don't have enough Wii points!!!

YAY!!!!!

Kinda funny that it's only 800 points in US and 900 everywhere else.

BRANDON_BURK - September 2, 2008 01:03 AM (GMT)
I just downloaded it. Now I'm gonna be playing this until 3 AM. =P

Super Mallow - September 2, 2008 01:16 AM (GMT)
I have migraines and work

So, not, I can't play. I've played 10 minutes and am at Mushroom Kingdom

RPG Fan - September 2, 2008 02:43 AM (GMT)
I have been waiting for this game for way too long. I couldnt wait for it to come out for the wii vc before the wii even came out. Sadly i dont have enought wii points to get it :( and my parents haven't given in yet. But i'm not worried i'll get it soon.

Now i will pitch the question i had earlier (in the other topic), i this game is down loaded ALOT by people, do u think that it could push nintendo to make a TRUE sequel of this game? I mean if it shows that they make a SIGNIFIGANT profit out of this game on VC then maybe they will make the sequel hopping for the same results (which they would probably get, although the sequel would be more expensive then 8 dollars obviously)

Keiji Dragon - September 2, 2008 03:28 AM (GMT)
Shit yeah. I knew it would all work out in the end!

Keon XVII - September 2, 2008 04:54 AM (GMT)
I heard about this earlier today. I'm glad it was actually released this time after all those other times we thought it was going to be released, then wasn't.

Now then, off I go to delete my rom, and buy the game. :D

JonnyJinx - September 2, 2008 05:53 AM (GMT)
I've beat the game almost...

EXCEPT FOR GETTING 100 SUPER JUMPS WHY CAN'T I DO IIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

Super Mallow - September 2, 2008 11:31 AM (GMT)

Nintendo didn't make the game. Square did. =P

Super Mallow - September 2, 2008 04:18 PM (GMT)
I've seen some changes from this and the original. I will document them on the site

Super Mallow - September 2, 2008 04:33 PM (GMT)
I mentioned the first major change on the latest update

JonnyJinx - September 2, 2008 04:48 PM (GMT)
You should mention the change in the PAL version too.

BRANDON_BURK - September 2, 2008 06:01 PM (GMT)
I've noticed the timed hits being slightly different, especially with blocking. Not sure about the PAL version though.

Static E! looks a little different too. Could be just because I haven't played the actual game in 3 years. =P

JonnyJinx - September 2, 2008 07:24 PM (GMT)
Well, a major change in the PAL version was one of Croco's lines. "Persistent bugger" was changed to "Persistent pest", due to the meaning of "bugger" in England.

Fatmanonice - September 2, 2008 09:02 PM (GMT)
I've noticed that some of the sound effects have been changed too like when the frogog's do that weird "water ball" attack.

Super Mallow - September 3, 2008 12:04 AM (GMT)
Yes. Sleep Sauce, Venom Drool, etc have different sound effects

I have also noticed some other changes as well

JonnyJinx - September 3, 2008 02:38 AM (GMT)
Not necessarily. All emulators emulate SMRPG's sound a bit differently. Probably same with the flame wall and static E! graphics. These things honestly don't matter, at all.

I’ve never been on the internet with the Wii. But now with this game out, I may just bring my television and Wii from down stairs, hook it up next to the computer, and buy this game. But you know what, it will be worth it to go though all that trouble and lifting just so I can be lazy and play it on a my Wii.

(…I’m not paying $15 for a wireless router for my computer…)

Super Mallow - September 3, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
I've noticed some more changes/alterations through the Forest Maze

It appears as though everything with "light" has been altered, such as Flame Wall

JonnyJinx - September 3, 2008 07:00 PM (GMT)
It's just different because of the emulation most likely. They wouldn't change it.

I remember Flame Wall being the same on the real SNES as on emulators, so that's probably not due to emulation.

JonnyJinx - September 3, 2008 08:59 PM (GMT)
What?

Super Mallow - September 3, 2008 09:01 PM (GMT)
..No....Flame Wall is different on the Snes....completely....

There's some changes. Is it probably due to the emulation? I suppose one can make that claim...but for a company who can faithfully emulate 64 bit games, a 32 it game should not be hard

I don't know, it may just have happened. Either way, it's still altered/changed

JonnyJinx - September 3, 2008 09:23 PM (GMT)
Super Mario 64 has some graphical glitches on VC as well, apparently. I never noticed them, but they're still slightly different all the same.

RPG Fan - September 4, 2008 01:11 AM (GMT)
Too me i think Geno Beam sounds a little different. However like JJ said it could just be the emulator. And yes Brandon i know that square made it and my thought could apply to them as well.

Super Mallow - September 4, 2008 01:12 AM (GMT)
Yes, Geno Beam IS different...

It's one of 7 I have marked =O

JonnyJinx - September 4, 2008 10:57 AM (GMT)
ZSNES and Snes9x can't emulate SMRPG's sounds perfectly, so I think an emulator problem is pretty likely, personally. Also the ground in Land's End in one of the hidden box screenshots on SMRPGL was lighter than in my actual VC game, so that could be something.

Super Mallow - September 4, 2008 11:45 AM (GMT)
I've tried to stay away from saying stuff about minor differences. Why? Well, because my TV is much better than it was, so of course it'll be different in terms of lightness, darkness, brightness, contrast, etc.

JonnyJinx - September 4, 2008 11:56 AM (GMT)
Personally, I would consider some graphical differences minor too.
